About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Trying to survive the brutal tundra that is a Madison, WI winter...

ABOUT ME

I'm a catacomb-sized Third Culture Kid, born in Sofia, Bulgaria, grew up in New York City, went to college in Los Angeles, spent a year in Paris... And now I live in Madison, Wisconsin. So I call all of these cities home!
I'm in Madison, Wisconsin despite what my last log-in location says... it tends to be wrong for some reason.
I don't like waste so I am actively trying to become a freegan. Sometimes it's easy, sometimes not so much. But I keep trying! I grew up calling radio stations around the country. I like water (to drink it, swim in it, to be around it...). Sometimes I get bored easily and that upsets me -- so I try to stay really busy all the time!I'm a self-timer photographer... Traveling solo has perfected this skill!I like (to make) art. However, you probably won't catch me at a museum unless it's a rainy day.And last but perhaps most importantly, I'm a bit of an adrenaline junkie :)

PHILOSOPHY

I went to middle school in East Harlem where I saw:

Become your dream.
- James De La Vega

scribbled in chalk all over sidewalks, walls, even trash bags. Its simplicity really left an impression on me then, and has stuck with me ever since!

I'm also a firm believer in karma, and I try to live my life accordingly.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been incredibly lucky in surfing some of the best couches in the world! While I may not have the ideal conditions for hosting right now, I am always excited about meeting people and showing them around wherever I am: New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Madison!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Absolutely amazing so far!

Interests

art, making things, changing things, recycling, reusing, dumpster diving, hitchhiking, open spaces, abandoned buildings, self-timer photography, urban design, lights, energy fields, economics, unusual musical instruments, engineering, computer science (trying to teach myself!), LANGUAGES, yoga,

Music, Movies & Books

I have very eclectic tastes in music, including (but not limited to): Phoenix, Oasis, Darius, Sebastien Tellier, Matt & Kim, DJ Tiesto, The Strokes, Kings of Leon, CocoRosie, Kavinsky, Snow Patrol, Modest Mouse, Lana Del Rey, Fitz and the Tantrums, Manu Chao, Aventura, bagpipe music and a lot more. I've discovered some of these amazing musicians through the CS community and I'm always expanding this list!

I'm not much of a movie person... I guess I liked Catch Me If You Can, Paranoid Park, and a few others. But you will almost never find me watching a movie... or TV for that matter. The Catcher in the Rye, Atlas Shrugged, Le Petit Prince, 1984, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, Je voudrais que quelqu'un m'attende quelque part, The Importance of Being Earnest...

One Amazing Thing I've Done

- watching Bioluminescent dinoflagellates emit light near Malibu
- figuring out that Santa's not real by recognizing the boots of the maintenance worker pretending to be Santa in my daycare (when I was 3)
- 140 mph on the back of a motorcycle in LA
- helping my grandma take out honey from her beehives
- Belogradchick Rocks
- Krushuna Falls
- Niagara Falls
- flying a plane over Utrecht, Holland (okay, co-piloting haha :)
- a shiny snake on the side of the road in the Dominican Republic
- chasing bunnies in the middle of the night in Long Beach
- organizing political events as part of the Political Student Assembly
- catacombs in Paris
- climbing over a 15-ft fence in really high heels and a dress
- graduating from college with a 3.90! while still having lots of fun ;)

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm very interested in learning about how other people live. There are things we all take for granted that can be incredibly eye-opening to others, and I enjoy discovering these things. I want to share yoga experiences, delicious meals, and adrenaline!
Currently, I want to learn more about engineering! (very different from my humanities major in college haha.)
