Who am I? A vast subject...

Let's start with my first name, it's quite simple : Guillaume. As I write these words, I'm 40 years old and I've just started a world tour 🙂🌍.

I left Amiens, my hometown, at the age of 20. I then moved to Lyon for my studies. I returned to Amiens and then settled in Épernon until the end of 2024.

I've always been passionate about travel !
For a little under 20 years, when I was on vacation, I traveled in a variety of ways :
- In a converted Kangoo, very often in Europe or France
- With my backpack. I simply booked a round-trip plane ticket and then made the necessary arrangements on the spot
- All-in-one comfort... Because sometimes it feels good !
Now everything has changed, as I've embarked on a world tour for an uncertain duration and therefore with no return date. What incredible joy this freedom is !

Taking a world tour was ultimately a no-brainer for me. I initially built a "normal" life : a permanent job, a house, a car, a marriage, and a divorce... It was at the end of 2021 that I truly realized that I had embarked on a lifestyle I would describe as "forced." This was due as much to what society instills in us as to the upbringing I received. I am now free in my world tour, and this is truly what I wanted deep down.

Commençons par mon prénom, c'est assez simple : Guillaume. Au moment où j’écris ces mots j’ai 40 ans et je viens de commencer un tour du monde 🙂🌍.

J’ai quitté Amiens, ma ville natale, à l'âge de 20 ans. Je me suis ensuite installé à Lyon pour mes études. Retour à Amiens puis installation à Épernon jusqu'à fin 2024.

J’ai toujours été passionné par les voyages ! Pendant un peu moins de 20 ans, lorsque j'étais en congés, je voyageais de façon variée :
- Dans un Kangoo aménagé, très souvent en Europe ou en France
- Avec mon sac à dos. Je me contentais de réserver un billet d’avion aller/retour et je m’organisais ensuite sur place
- Tout confort… Parce que des fois ça fait du bien !
Maintenant, tout a changé, puisque j'ai commencé un tour du monde pour une durée incertaine et donc sans date de retour. Quel incroyable bonheur cette liberté !

Réaliser un tour du monde était finalement pour moi une évidence. J'ai dans un premier temps construit une vie “normale” : un boulot en CDI, une maison, une voiture, un mariage et un divorce…
C'est en fin d'année 2021 que j'ai réellement pris conscience que je m'étais lancé dans un mode de vie que je qualifierai de “subit”. Autant par ce que la société nous inculque ou l’éducation reçue.
Je suis maintenant libre dans mon tour du monde et c'est véritablement ce que je souhaitais au plus profond de moi-même...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet people ! For a day, an evening, a weekend, or a week. One of my goals during this world tour is to meet people, discover new cultures, local customs, and more. So, if I'm on CS, it's to share and exchange moments, not just sleep on your couch.

Pour rencontrer des gens ! Le temps d’une journée, d’une soirée, d’un WE ou d’une semaine. L’un de mes objectifs pendant ce tour du monde est d'aller à la rencontre des gens, découvrir de nouvelles cultures, les coutumes locales…
Si je suis sur CS c'est donc pour partager et échanger des moments et non simplement dormir dans votre canapé.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm not the best person to talk about music, movies, or books...
I listen to all kinds of music without really caring about its origins. It's a bit the same with movies.
And finally, books. I would really appreciate being able to take the time to devour a novel. Unfortunately, I lack the concentration or patience, I don't know, to get started on a book. I hope this world tour will allow me to settle down and explore many novels...

Je ne suis pas la meilleure personne pour parler de musique, de film ou de livre…
J’écoute tout type de musique sans trop m’intéresser à son origine. Un peu pareil au niveau des films.
Et enfin, les livres. J'apprécierai beaucoup pouvoir prendre le temps de dévorer un roman. Je manque malheureusement de concentration ou patience je ne sais pas pour me lancer dans un livre. J'espère que ce tour du monde me permettra de me poser et ainsi partir à la découverte de nombreux romans…
