About Me

I'm 35, from Brazil, currently living in Amsterdam. I'm a marine biologist, specialist in mangroves. Question: Do you actually know what mangroves are?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm currently unemployed, trying my second PhD in Germany. Spending some time in the lab I'm hoping to get in would increase a lot my chances of being accepted. I do count on some help from -currently- strangers...

Music, Movies, and Books

The least I can write about it is that I've got a very eclectic taste.
I'm a huge cinephile, so pretty much any type of movie drags me to the theater. From Scandinavian dry to blockbusters, I'm up to them all (exceptions apply to those like Triple X and Fast and Furious).
Regarding to music, I'm very into Bossa-Nova, Samba and other Brazilian rhythms. Nevertheless, I love Vocal Jazz, and also more... commercial stuff, from Pop Music to Folk Rock. Oh! I'm an Ethnology geek, so traditional music is something that always gets my attention. Another detail: I've been singing in classical choirs for eight years now - I'm a bass, btw.
Books are something that I've regained interest in the last couple or years. Before that, I was always focused on scientific journals and stuff. Boring. Lately I've read three great ones: Germania: A Personal History of Germans Ancient and Modern (Simon Winder), The Unfolding of Language (Guy Deutscher), and Spirals in Time: The Secret Life and Curious Afterlife of Seashells (Helen Scales).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've got a little nice project together with my partner called TwoFreeGuys. You can look it up on any social media.

Teach, Learn, Share

I guess I'd have always a lot to learn. That's what I feel everyday. But I guess I've got quite some experience in Marine Biology, History, Languages, and Fine Arts. I'm a good dancer when within the Latin rhythms realm. That's something, isn't it? :-)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Laughing, chatting, silence, experiences, cooking skills. Maybe something from my last destination (I'm always traveling).
