About Me

I am a happy smiling tall guy nicknamed Gimli (mainly because my name is really hard to pronounce for non french speaker ;) ). Feel free to call me whatever you like, I love nicknames and will probably give you one when we'll get to know each other :D

Open-minded and respectful, I am keen on discovering new things.

I love to travel and to meet new people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet new people, see new places, have new experiences...

Interests

I am interested in both serious and non-serious topics. On the more serious side, I love architecture, engineering, sciences, art, cinema and music (I play the piano).

On the less serious side, I love to party, to play games, to practice any kind of sports (I've already trained seriously in judo, football, tennis, table tennis, squash, cycling (both road and dirt), water-polo and hiking, and played many more) and as a perfect little Belgian guy I love beers and chocolate.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to nearly every kind of music, I'm eager to discover new things and to make you discover new things. Lately I was mostly listening to Battles, Mueller-Roedelius, Nils Frahm, Chet Faker, BRNS, Rone, Fauve, John Hopkins, Clark, Alt-J and Watsky.

My favorite movies are Children of men, The hunt, Interstellar, The pianist and Spirited away.

I haven't been reading so much lately :s Shame on me!!! But the best book in my opinion is Mockingbird from Walter Tevis. I also like "Darkness at noon" from Arthur Koestler, I love comics and especially Snoopy and Popeye.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Can't choose one...

Maybe it's the bike tour around France that I made with a friend (3000km in 20days). Stopping when we were tired and camping where we felt it was the place to camp. Bumping into wonderful people everywhere we went.

Or it is the hiketrip around the Mt Blanc in the Alps, beautiful scenery, nature, dangerous paths, and many more!

or maybe it is the Oxfam trailwalker experience, a 100km hike to accomplish in 30h with 7 friends.

or even the night I slept outside in Turin (IT)
