About Me

HOW TO SURF AT MY PLACE? FIRST: Read the "ABOUT" and "MY HOME" sections of this profile: BOTH will be useful for you to write me a proper request. SECOND: Write a PERSONALIZED COUCH REQUEST (no private message, mail or copy/pasted one). Be aware that "personalized" doesn't mean just writing my name somewhere: showing why you want to meet, sleep at my place, which tastes we have in common and what we could share together would be a better option. You're not loosing your time writing a proper request. To know how good is yours, just wonder if, as a host, you would feel like inviting the person/group of people who sent it. THIRD: Hosting as much as I do I had to set house rules. You'll immediatly receive them with my acceptance. FOURTH: Come back to me one or two days before your arrival to get you my address and detailed directions.

Hello, I'm Guillaume, a parisian native, one of the most active european hosts (I host 250/300 Csers a year), a foodie, a good cook and a fine wines and spirits connoisseur. If you're searching for a couch in Paris, want advices to explore the city and are curious to improve your skills about these 3 subjects, I can help ;0)

MY KIND OF GUESTS I appreciate smily, open minded and curious people who like to share knowledge and experiences. Males, females, solo travelers, couples or groups of friends are welcomed to my place. Motivated newbies or experienced surfers also. Being neat and organized are a plus and being a party animal coming back late just to sleep a minus.

CURRENT MISSION I'm trying to be a good ambassador of my city and of my country.

PHILOSOPHY Life is too short: keep discovering and enjoying!

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING CS is a real human experience for me: I receive surfers as I receive friends, I cook for them, give them a lot of tricks to visit the city and save money, guide them if I have time to and gloablly help them as much as I can.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE I hosted 1 000++ travelers in Paris, modarated the Paris Emergency Forum and surfed only once but I always meet local surfers when traveling.

Interests

Travelling, Walking, Everything which is related to hiring of with people/tastes/sensations (chating, cooking, sharing food/a glass of wine/a cocktail/a fine spirit, ...), Theater and cinema (I have a large and various collection of films in both original and French version), Almost all kind of musics, Operas (I regularly go to Vienna, Prague or Budapest just to enjoy some) .

Music, Movies & Books

FILMS: The Last Emperor, Memories of a Geisha, Schindler's List, The Secret Life of Walter Mighty, Into the Wilde, Malavita, The theory of everything, James Bond, Indiana Jones, Jason Bourne's Trilogy, Matrix, The Silence of the Lambs, Red Dragon, Hannibal, thrillers, action films, dramas and teenage silliest comedies (I know I'm too old for those, and so what???)

NOVELS: Tom Clancy, Robert Ludlum, Michael Crichton, Ken Follett, Robin Cook

MUSIC: Pop (Mika, Simply Red, ...), Rock (Green Day, Offspring, Limpkin Park, ...), Techno Dance (David Guetta, Martin Solveig, Bob Sinclar, ...), ElectroPop, Lounge, Jazz, Classical music and opera.

One Amazing Thing I've Done

I used to work for a few governments/diplomatic representations/officials/ministers and still assist a worldwide famous woman when she visites Paris.

Teach, Learn, Share

I CAN TEACH: Useful sentences in French to communicate with locals, How to cook some tasty dishes, The process of a wine/spirit tasting, Where to find great hidden spots and weird/creepy things in churches, How to make someone offer your drink(s) in a bar.

I'D LIKE TO LEARN: Photography techniques, New dishes to cook, Whatever else you could teach me.

What I Can Share With Hosts

SURFING: a confortable and warm place to sleep with fast (13 mins) and direct access to Paris deep city center.

VISITING PARIS: My guidance/ City maps and advices to visit touristic or non touristic Paris/Addresses of best cocktail bars downtown/Addresses of affordable restaurants (6 to 20 euros/person)/Addresses to taste wines and spirits for free during the weekend.

DINNERS Eating with me is not necessary to surf at my place but I consider talking while having a good dinner the best way to get to know each others. If we do, we'll share the cost of food or go shopping together. It's more affordable then eating a McD's or baguette sandwich menu, except if we have very fancy food like foie gras, snails or champagne (I can arrange this on request, for Christmas, New Year's Eve, Birthdays, ... And will let you know in advance). Anyway it'll always be cheaper and more fun then sleeping in a hostel. Obviously I also highly appreciate when my guests take the time to cook for me :0)

OTHERS: My bad jokes if you really insist???
