About Me
About Me
Hi! I’m Gustavo, a Brazilian-Italian lawyer and business consultant who’s passionate about people, culture, and connection. My work is focused on human rights, diversity, and supporting LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs, but I also love stepping out of the office (or laptop screen!) to explore the world and learn from different perspectives.
Starting in December, I’ll be living in Southeast Asia for a few months before moving on to Europe. I see traveling not just as moving through places, but as a way of creating stories, building friendships, and sharing who we are beyond labels and borders.
I’m easygoing, curious, and love good conversations over coffee (or a local beer). If you host me, expect someone who’s respectful, empathetic, and genuinely interested in your city and your life. In return, I’ll be happy to share insights about Brazilian culture, cook a meal, or just exchange experiences about the joys and challenges of living authentically.
For me, Couchsurfing is not just about finding a place to stay — it’s about community, empathy, and creating moments that stay with us long after the journey ends.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I believe traveling is about more than just visiting new places — it’s about connecting with people, sharing stories, and experiencing the world through someone else’s eyes.
Couchsurfing feels like the perfect space for that. I’m here because I want to meet locals, understand their culture beyond the tourist spots, and create genuine human connections along the way.
As someone who works with empathy and diversity in my professional life, I value authenticity and community. For me, Couchsurfing is a way to live those values while traveling: being welcomed into someone’s home, sharing meals, exchanging perspectives, and leaving with more than just photos — leaving with memories and friendships.
Interests
I’m curious about many things and love to mix culture, fun, and meaningful conversations. I enjoy cinema and theatre, from indie films to big productions, and I’m always up for talking about books that inspire or challenge us. Music is a huge part of my life — from classical concerts to pop divas that make us dance and celebrate life.
I have a sweet tooth, so I love trying (and sometimes baking!) sweet recipes. Plants also bring me joy — I find it grounding to care for them, especially while living a busy lifestyle.
On weekends, you’ll probably find me dancing, having a picnic outdoors, or enjoying time with friends. I’m also passionate about politics, social change, and gay culture, and I believe conversations about these topics can be just as fun and enlightening as sharing music or food.

Music, Movies, and Books
🎶 Music
Music is my safe place. I’m in love with Brazilian sounds — Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Gal Costa, Maria Bethânia, Elis Regina, Ney Matogrosso, Os Mutantes, Cazuza, Marisa Monte, Los Hermanos, Clube da Esquina, Adoniran Barbosa, and Tom Zé. I also vibe with global icons like The Beatles, Queen, Buena Vista Social Club, Edith Piaf, Franz Ferdinand, Arctic Monkeys, Calle 13, and The Strokes.
And, of course, my inner gay heart beats for the divas: Lady Gaga, Madonna, Huntrix, and all the pop queens that make us dance, cry, and celebrate who we are.
📚 Books & Writers
I admire writers who make us think and feel deeply: Eduardo Galeano, Bertolt Brecht, Guimarães Rosa, Gabriel García Márquez, Fernando Pessoa, Shakespeare, and Albert Camus. Some of my all-time favorite books are La Peste, Cien Años de Soledad, Love in the Time of Cholera, L’Étranger, and Dom Casmurro.
🎬 Movies & Theatre
Cinema and theatre are passions of mine. I love stories that push boundaries, make us reflect, or simply entertain with beauty and humor. From arthouse films to classics, I believe movies and plays are a way of understanding cultures and emotions across borders.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once traveled through the Atacama Desert while in Bolivia and crossed the Uyuni Salt Flats — one of the most breathtaking places on Earth. The endless white landscape, the surreal reflections, and the feeling of being in another world made it an unforgettable experience.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I believe the best part of traveling is exchanging — stories, music, food, and perspectives. With hosts, I can share a bit of Brazilian culture, from our music (think Caetano, Gil, Gal, Elis… and of course our pop divas 🌈) to our literature and history.
I’d also be happy to cook a meal and bring a taste of Brazil to your table. Beyond that, I can share insights from my work with human rights, diversity, and LGBTQ+ culture if you’re curious about social issues in Brazil and beyond.
Most of all, I bring good vibes, curiosity, and genuine respect for your home and your way of living.
