About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My mission as of now is to just keep having fun. I am going to photography school full time and love it. I love meeting new people, being spontaneous, going with the flow sort of thing.

ABOUT ME

I am a very fun person. I am not into drama, just keeping life simple and interesting and new is what I'm keen on. I keep my friends very close and take pride in trying my best to care for them.

I love to cook, I love to read. I have people/friends over all the time at my condo for good times. My house is an open house for any of my friends. I live in central Vancouver, and have a wood burning fireplace so you can only try and imagine the amount of fun that is had at this residence.

I have been pretty much snowboarding for the last five years. I move to resorts for the winter and just ride. I am a Level 2 Instructor and love to teach.

I have two best friends who I've lived and travelled with in all of these places and could not be without them. They are the sort of guys I can see every day and not get sick of or ever fight with. In many ways they know me better than anybody on this planet. Their names are John and Tivohn. I live with them (although Tivohn has moved up to a ski resort in central BC which his Dad runs for the remainder of the winter so right now it is actually just John and I).

PHILOSOPHY

I'm not really into drama. I plan as little as possible. I like life to be random and spontaneous. I do not associate with people who are fake and create stressful dramatic situations. Life is chill and should always stay interesting. I also believe in learning. I get itchy feet very easily. If I have not learned anything new in some time, I will try and do so immediately. This also applies to where I live. If I was not committed to school right now I would probably have already left Vancouver.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Project? This sort of sounds like some global domination thing. I'm just always having a good time and if you are gonna come travelling in Vancouver there is no reason I shouldn't spread the fun around a bit.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have stayed on a few couches in New Zealand between residences. There always seems to be a friend or two on our couch and I have ended up one quite a few couches at friends realizing that the night before must have been pretty good.

Music, Movies, and Books

MOVIES
-Donnie Darko, A Brick, Collateral, Miami Vice, Snowboard Videos, Ray, Snatch, Lock Stock And Two Smoking Barrels

MUSIC
-Everything but country. I have recently been enjoying jazz, classical, piano and violin sounds have been intriguing me. I love rock, hip hop, pretty much anything with a catchy beat or sound.

BOOKS
-Love the "Way of the Peaceful Warrior", just finished "The Rum Diaries" by Hunter S. Thompson, and "High Fidelty" by Nick Hornby. I don't know how many times I've read Beowulf. Canterbury Tales is kinda cool. Oh, and of course snowboard magazines.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Snowboarded all over. Climbed the Franz Josef Glacier. Did excellent in school and trying to do it again in photography school. Worked as hard as I could when I played basketball in high school and excelled in that. Lived at various ski resorts and had some times that couldn't be purchased. Became a snowboard instructor in my second winter snowboarding, never skiied. Found and lost love, twice. I think my best achievement is having no regrets so far. Oh, actually, one regret, too many times I've loved and not said so.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am in photography school so I know much about that area.
I have been a snowboard instructor for the last five years so if you are in Van to do that (chances are good this is the reason for your visit) I could definitely show you the ropes.
I find some people have troubles letting go and not caring and stress about everything. Some time here could definitely help in chilling out a bit.
I would love to learn about anything from Japan or Chile, language, culture, whatever. And actually, I'd love to learn anything about places I'm not familiar with.
