About Me

Hi there! My name is Guto Fernandez, and I was born in Rio de Janeiro but grew up in Brasília. I'm a Brazilian DJ, music producer, and spiritual explorer with a passion for House, Disco, and Soulful beats. My journey started with a degree in Physical Education, but my true calling has always been music.

In 2013, I made a life-changing decision to move to Barcelona, chasing my dream of building a career in electronic music. Over the years, my passion and dedication have taken me to unimaginable places: I’ve lived in four countries, visited over 15, and performed in iconic venues across Europe, sharing my music with diverse audiences.

I speak four languages (Portuguese, English, Spanish, and Greek), have some knowledge of French, and am currently learning Italian. Despite the stereotypes about DJs, I’m calm, respectful, and value moments of peace. I’m deeply motivated by meditation and spiritual awakening, always curious to learn about different religions and philosophies.

I’ll be in Brazil for two months, traveling for work and spending some time with my family, but I’d love to stay with like-minded and open-minded people along the way. I truly believe that connections can lead to lifelong friendships, and I’m excited to meet new people and share meaningful experiences.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing isn’t just about finding a place to stay—it’s about meaningful connections. I’m here to meet kind, open-hearted people who share a curiosity for the world.

As much as I enjoy spending time with my family, the current circumstances make it difficult to stay at their homes, and I’m looking for a more independent, peaceful setup during my time in Brazil.

Additionally, I’ve worked in hostels before and love engaging with people from different backgrounds. Let’s share stories, laughs, and maybe even a dance or two!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: As a DJ and music lover, my taste revolves around House, Disco, and Soulful beats. apart of some house, music legends, and disco and soul from the 70s, some of my favorite Brazilian artists are Tim Maia and Jorge Ben.
Movies: I’m drawn to movies that inspire self-reflection and growth, such as The Pursuit of Happyness and Into the Wild.
Books: I enjoy reading about spirituality, personal development, and different religions. Books like The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle and Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse are some of my favorites.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I left my home country and moved to Europe alone to pursue my dream of becoming a DJ. Since then, I’ve performed at world-renowned events and venues like Eden Ibiza, Amsterdam Dance Event, and Jackies in Barcelona. These experiences have not only shaped my career but also expanded my worldview.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you the basics of DJing or share insights about electronic music and its history. If you’re curious about meditation, I’d be happy to share techniques that have helped me on my spiritual journey.

I love learning about different cultures, languages, and cuisines. If you’re passionate about something, I’d love to hear your story and exchange ideas.
