About Me

I enjoy life without imposing myself on others. I am generally adaptable, seek interesting conversations and living by doing.

I have lived for more than five years in 5 different countries on three continents, but am a terrible failure in languages and remain very impressed by people who speak more than one language.

I have two adult daughters. Work for an environmental NGO in Berlin, but can work remotely which is nice.

I think all the photos except one are from the past 2 years 🤷‍♂️

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I cannot find the actual quote (I tried 🙈, AI can’t do,everything), but it went something like “ the truly adventurous traveler does not travel to the other side of the world, they jump over their neighbors fence and explore there”. Despite visiting quite a few countries, I feel like until I meet people where they live, I am traveling in rather a limited way. Couchsurfing is a way to jump a few fences (respectfully).

Music, Movies, and Books

Film: strictly ballroom, promising young woman - but anything with dialogue will do
Book: my childhood ( Maxim Gorky)
Music : anything by Stevie Wonder or the Jam.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I carved a totem pole awith friends many years ago and it still stands today 🤷‍♂️ somewhere in Southern England.

(have also done solo-parachuting, white water, was a white water kayaker, surfing, rafting building and rafting …. But the totem pole and the people I did it with feel more like a significant thing now 🤷‍♂️)

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a fairly competent wood carver using hand tools, -though obviously I don’t travel with tools-, but if I,ever have the pleasure to host you and we both have time I can show you how to make a spoon while we chat, if you would like 😊.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am up sharing conversations and stories . I am quite good out outdoors nature stuff, being, making and doing. I can cook, and happily enjoy doing this, Czech, Indian, and Italian are all possibilities. I am a fairly competent wood carver using hand tools, -though obviously I don’t travel with tools-, but if I,ever have the pleasure to host you I return and we both have time I can show you how to make a spoon while we chat, if you would like 😊.

I can also play chess but am not great.
