About Me

ABOUT ME

I enjoy learning from life, either by studying, living everyday life, travelling or meeting people. I've been living and working abroad with great pleasure, since it's always been tremendously inspiring and learning experiences.
Travelling may not be an end in itself but it's been contributing to my blossoming and being happy. Here and there, I always enthusiastically meet the other, from my nearest neighbour to the remotest man/woman on earth, since there's always something to learn from everybody. Aren't we each of us some kind of absolutely unique universe?
I'm easy-going and curious, kind and upright, and it might seem boastful from me to write more about me, so it's better to meet, that is to say to experience what I see as some sort of alchemy between people... or not, because of course, as I realized in my innocent childhood days, one can't always get on well with everyone on this planet!

PHILOSOPHY

I love to breathe poetry, laugh as well as experiencing artistic madness into every aspect of life. I enjoy very much being with my friends, eating good food as well as cooking it. baking bread, reading a lot, playing or listening to music, being in the middle of a remote country, walking-medidating or having fun there... And so much more...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had an indirect coachsurfing experience, thanks to some people or friends who coachsurfed themselves, since I happened to meet or live with coachsurfers, hosts of visitors, here and there.

Well, I sort of took part indirectly into CS, since the Couchsurfers I met were friends or colleagues of mine. I remember among other examples this interesting meeting with a group of bikers cycling the Silk Road ; they were couchsurfed by a colleague of mine in Aleppo and I invited them to participate in one of my French courses.
I hosted some people since I've been living in Vienna, and I must say that I/we prefer independant people who make their way into the city, not expecting me to be guides! But life is magic, who knows what happens between people, sometimes it sparkles, sometimes not... I can turn out to be a guide aoocrding to the situation and feelings.
I'm not couchsurfing to make friends originally, although such things might happen, but doing it according to my philsosophy against the merchandisation of our society for instance...

Interests

I cannot live without music and reading... and also good food, cooking, playing music, creating in many ways, but also practicing sport again after a very long break in my life (I'm on my bike everyday, practice hapkido twice weekly, and go hiking or swimming sometimes)... and so many others stuff that it cannot be detailed in this narrow space... Shall I notice amateur gardening, self-made compost in my relatively narrow terrace?

As far as travel and culture are concerned, I'm always interested in learning as many languages as possible and discovering the links and differences between the languages of all over the world and the corresponding cultures.

Otherwise, I will define myself as anticapitalist, nonviolent, defending respectful ecological ways of living. I dislike hypocrisy, racism, narrow-minded people, enjoy Monty Python-like and black humour, etc. I'm on my bike all the year in Vienna, even when there is snow, that's my main way to move in my city!

Music, Movies, and Books

Always a silly question to ask : which film, music or book you like... Well, so many and not always the same should I say! And not anything, since I would say that I'm kind of hard to please or at least not necessarly attracted by the mainstream without being a bloody snobbish intellectual...
Names? SunRa, Spiral Tribe, Henry Miller, Bernard Noël, Henri Michaux, John Coltrane, Deleuze, Buster Keaton, Chris Marker, William Morris, John Holloway's Crack Capitalism, Castoriadis, Borges, etc., etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hard question... To live is already such a great "stuff", innoit?
I love to be lost in a city I don't know, since I think it is a good way to discover it.
I enjoyed to behave like a Syrian guy in the Aleppo souk to go and buy my soap and food for the week, or going to the crowded khat souk in Aden just to speak with the people and go to the place where the few tourists are not to be found.
Apart from that, shall I tell about my past amazing free tekno or other musik parties in the wood or anywhere else in the nature??
Well, as I said, hard question... to write about life is already literature or it is nothing else as living it.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teaching, learning, sharing...

What I Can Share with Hosts

A couch (!), which would be in my living room-kitchen, consisting of a foam rubber one-person mattress and or an inflatable two-persons one. I offer hospitality, independance and/or a few tipps about the city where I live, a place to cook when I'm not cooking myself, tolerance, respect...
For me, CS is not Facebook, Tinder, or just an opportunity to provide or get a free place to couch, but something that goes along with some ideals of solidarity and respect that I see as a very important value in our humanity.
Wifi is available, no TV, tea...
