About Me
Hello! I'm from London, but it's been awhile since I was actual living there. I currently work for a Disaster Response Charity, but get to do my job from anywhere in the world. Every few months, I'm on the move again.
The plan is to travel around and see where feels like home. Maybe live on a boat. Maybe build a boat.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I created an account back in 2012 and just never used it. A few months ago I decided to give it a go and attended a CS event in Bangkok. I ended up making some really good friends and thought why not give it another go! It's great that I'm able to move around, but as I work during the week (mainly from cafes), I don't always get to be as social as I want. Plus, it's always nice to have someone who knows the local area and get a resident's perspective!
Interests
If I'm in a new city, I'm keen to check out the museums and monuments, eat as much street food as possible and check out the live comedy scene. If I'm in nature, I'll be up early ready to hike or if there's an opportunity to plant trees, I'm there!
A lot of my travel has been through volunteering and working in the charity sector, so always up to do something for a good cause.
I'm also trying to learn spanish...I can just about use my present tense correctly!
- beer
- running
- hiking
- boxing
- cricket
- volunteering
- mma
- improv
- foodie
- comedy
- muaythai
- trees
- spanish
- science museums
Music, Movies, and Books
Growing up in 90's London meant a lot of Garage music and Dance. Also, 90's rap - I used to think I could rap...I can't. TV and Movies - Comedies (British comedy like The Inbetweeners is a win) but I'm always down to watch a true crime documentary or police/crime/drugs drama...think along the lines of The Departed, The Wire and Peaky Blinders.
I just started reading the Game of Thrones series because I was disappointed by the finale and hoping the books end differently (once it's been finished!). I generally enjoy reading non-fiction...biographies, books about data and popular economics (it's not as boring as it sounds...think freakonomics)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Helped build homes in the Philippines after Typhoon Haiyan - the hardest labour I've ever done was mixing 5 batches of cement by hand in the hot, blazing Filipino sunshine and it was so worth it!
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm learning Spanish at the moment and would happily do an English exchange! Or if you can knit - I can only do the basic stitch and there's this hat I'd really like to make...I'm decent with basic DIY so if you need a table to be fixed or a wall to be painted!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love washing dishes and hoovering. Also, always happy to pet or plant sit! I also think I'm hilarious and reckon I can make anyone laugh...I will accept a pity laugh.
