I am a PhD student in Education, focusing on training teachers with a dream of bringing free high-quality education to all children across borders and cultures. I have been active on several educational (paid and voluntary) projects in my country and abroad. Some of them were my own projects in collaboration with city organizations, and a few others with international organizations (etc. Smile Operations, AIESEC) and most recently the US Embassy in Vietnam. In 2013, I volunteered to teach English in Jogja (Indonesia) for a semester and after that, lucky enough to be granted Fulbright scholarship and Alpha Delta Kappa scholarship to pursue Master's program in the US.

Coming to the US is an unexpected life-changing opportunity for me and as a girl with traveling at heart, it is a fascinating opportunity for me to be immersed in various cultures, food, lifestyles, etc. and people from different walks of life. I am out-going, open-minded, adventurous, pro-active, passionate, humorous, straight-forward, confident, caring, sweet, considerate, and responsible. I am flexible and can simply enjoy anything I can find so it is not difficult at all for me to be happy.

I love talking to people wherever I go and get to know about them. I talk to everyone no matter what background, cultures, and where they are, from the poor to the rich, from homeless people to project managers. Their stories, either positive or negative, always enlightened my worldview. Also, in this world, it seems that everyone is too busy with their own life, what we need sometimes is just to be heard, and I am happy to do it. Some may say I am naive and light-hearted. I think the best way to describe myself is being positive. I believe in the best in human beings and that is my religion.

I am also active in sport. I used to be in the city martial arts team for four years when I was in secondary and high school. I did Vietnamese martial arts and Sanshou and won two medals in contests in two years. Luckily I didn't get any major broken bones, except bruises that last for months and one weakened finger till now. I love swimming, dancing, and basketball and anything that is fast-moving though I am not good at any of them. (Hockey may add to the list?)

I believe that the best way to learn a culture is to live, talk and hang out with locals. Also, I want to meet up with those who are open-minded and share the same hobbies and philosophical conversations. I can talk about the meaning of life and professional talks for hours, yet funny jokes on everyday life is also not a problem for me.

It is amazing who I have come across while I am traveling, some of them have become my personal and professional connections. I like meeting with people and talking to locals to get to know more about culture. I appreciate the variety of cultures, religions, sexual orientations, socio economical background, and viewpoints as well. That is why I value Couchsurfing and the network it brings about.

I know this is sensitive and it is not the case all the time, but I think it is worth mentioning: I am open to anything from fun to serious topics. I am NOT, however, OPEN to fantasy and one night stands. I don't want to get hurt nor I want you to get hurt in any way.

兴趣

always dogs, travelling, photography, volunteer work, handicrafts, vehicles (especially things that are unique), arts, theatre and wine/ beer tasting. Recently, I ve found a new hobby: baking. Love spending time in the kitchen, making good food.

音乐、电影和书籍

all kinds of music and movies (Walter Mitty, Boyhood, etc.), but say no to horror movies or something in which animals are badly treated (or seem so), prefer novels. Anything that has sophisticated layers of meaning. And someone to discuss those. It s not the book or movie but the discussion that makes the value of the book/ movie.
Well arts is not in here but it s also my hobby. I dont know much about stories behind paintings but I enjoy analyzing and reading arts with someone.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

It s hard to tell one amazing thing as everything has its own beauty in its aspect. What I am proud that I ve done is my work with my pre-service teachers in bringing that family feeling when celebrating children's festivals for orphans, street children, and Agent Orange children. We also provide free English language classes to help prepare these children for future job requirements and empower them to create their own better life.

Personally, the best thing I have done is to visit over 25 states in the US, halfway through my dream which is to make it to all the states. I also want to visit South America (I love their cultures) and Europe one day (esp Spain and Italy). Will add to the list when I make it there.

My friends and I were going to have a BBQ at the beach the night before Katerina typhoon hit my hometown. My friends asked to go home but I said;"It s just a big wind". lol

my teaching experience in Indonesia in 2013, and sunbathing at noon on Bali beach to bet with my local male friend who would get tanned first. And finally, he left the beach before me. The best spring ever with voluntary work, local people, lovely students, food, cultures, beach, sun, and so forth.
