About Me
ABOUT ME
I'm pretty laid back and interested in trying new things. I like to laugh and be silly. I was in the Peace Corps in Madagascar for 2.5 years and now am back in school in the States. I'm a story teller. I make theatre. I'm a good listener. I'm a low key traveller, I like to dwell in a few nice spots and absorb local color rather than pack in every site I could possibly see.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I love traveling so am really interested in surfing. My host capacity right now is very limited due to the house I share with other non-CSers, but I'd be glad to meet up with other travelers who are passing through for coffee or a drink and tell them what little I know about Santa Barbara. I've only lived in SB for about a year, but I give really good directions!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've hosted a couple of people when I lived in Florida, and I've surfed in California, France, Spain, and Togo. It's far and away my favorite way to travel, and I look forward to hosting more when I have a different place. All were wonderful experiences and some have turned into long term friendships.
Interests
Besides travelling and meeting travellers, I'm directing plays. I'm interested in theatre of Africa as well as the bizarre, the off-kilter, and the absurd. I can have a dark sense of humor, but enjoy the lighter side of things as well. I'm a graduate student so I don't have much free time. . . I'm invested in giving feminism a better name -- one of compassion for all people. I spend as much time outdoors as possible, either wandering in the wilderness or studying at a cafe. I really enjoying reading plays. I love going to live music whenever I get the chance, which isn't nearly often enough. And going to the movie theatre even though I never *really* like the movies playing. I like sitting at coffee shops and watching people do whatever it is that they do. One-on-one conversations. I'm a hopeless animal lover. I used to paint and draw and do photography but those have fallen by the wayside in grad school. I wear a costume any chance I get. I also enjoy learning languages and playing poker and pool. And I'm an AVID day dreamer :)

Music, Movies, and Books
I watch Colbert Report and the Daily show, Project Runway. I just finished the wire. I watch 19th century period miniseries and just about any movie about the drug trade. I mostly read plays and theory these days.I usually listen to spanish guitar and funk on my pandora stations.
Teach, Learn, Share
I want to learn more hooping!
I can teach you how to make Jambalaya, a great southern dish from the U.S. We can also play some acting games if you are up for it.
