About Me

CURRENT MISSION

deciding where to take my life

ABOUT ME

I have long, strawberry blonde hair. I'd be okay with being called a ginger, but no one seems to want to grant me that title.

I need to update this profile, but I'm too overwhelmed right now. 08/2014

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

For the past year, I've been studying, traveling, sleeping under the stars, making friends in many places, and having my first few marvelous surfing experiences. Now, I'm settled down a bit and I'm ready to host my first lovely surfers!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed only a few times, but each time was a truly wonderful life experience. I stayed with some boys in the Northern Territory in Australia, in Adelaide as well, and my most recent experience was on the magnificent Greek island of Santorini. I will never travel without couch surfing again.

Interests

Waking at dawn, swimming, reading, watching sunlight filter through the trees, spotting more shooting stars than my friends, sauteing, building hiking trails, skinny dipping, long morning walks with dogs, being outside, washing dishes, getting up the bravery to hitchhike, spending time with animals, EKPAZ (Hellenic Wildlife Hospital), learning, and loving people

Music, Movies, and Books

I love Fitzgerald and Hemingway. I like this book called The Goats, I love Kate Chopin and The Awakening. I loved all the books in high school that everyone else hated. I like Vivaldi, American folk, George Winston, Dustin O'Halloran and the like, and lots of other stuff. Sigur Ros, Explosions in the Sky, Sufjan Steven's Christmas pieces, and Horse Feathers each have a special place in my heart.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

During the spring of 2010, I studied abroad in Australia, I got to snorkel on the Great Barrier Reef. We stayed on a sand Island for 8 days, and we had hours each day to explore that truly astonishing piece of the ocean. I never though I would get the chance to see anything like the Reef, so close, so tangible, and so alive. I truly though experiences like that were reserved for dreams and/or top National Geographic/BBC videographers and the like. Getting to snorkel from a research dive boat over that magnificent wonder was definitely the most amazing thing I've ever been privileged to do.

Teach, Learn, Share

I recently learned how to tie my shoes more effectively, without double knotting. I'd have to show you. I want to learn how to can veggies, and make bread that actually looks and tastes like bread. I'm also interested in goats and farms, generally. I'm a really good dishwasher. I'm trying to learn how to knit (well). I like animals of all sorts, except earwigs, which really creep me out. I like physical labor and using my hands, so if you need help, holler.
