About Me

Hi! I am an ESL teacher from Portland, Oregon. I have lived & taught English in a few different countries (Tanzania, Nicaragua, Thailand, Laos, France) but 3 years ago I transitioned to teaching online so I could backpack full time with the sole purpose being to just live life fully in and for the moment. In doing that, I can honestly say life has been too kind to me - finding a career I love and am passionate about, experiencing insanely beautiful nature, listening to and making all kinds of music, finding so many amazing friends all over the world…I can’t imagine this life without travel and i can’t imagine travel without the amazing people you meet during it. It’s a never ending world to discover and I can’t think of a better way to discover it than by sleeping on the couch of a kind stranger, getting to share life together for just a moment, tiny threads intertwined.

* during my backpack trip 3 years ago, one of the incredible humans I met while on the road was crazy enough to join me with his backpack too and now, three years later, he is my husband! Life works in funny ways doesn’t it (: We are happily making our life here in the SW of France currently, but we hope to be back on the road again soon!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I’ve always been pretty much down for anything! ☺️ I love to cook / share stories over wine or beer (I make pretty good homemade guacamole) and if you have a guitar we can jam and sing together. I much prefer getting to know a city through friends and local spots, since I’ve been on the road for so long now I’m not in any rush to see all the ‘attractions of a city’ before I leave a place, but if there’s a park in town that’s where you’d probably find me laying in my hammock. I’m happy to help around the house any way I can while I’m there and am really good at entertaining myself if you have a busy work/life schedule!
