Hello! My name is Hyunji Kim and I am originally from South Korea. I was born and raised in Korea until I decided to go to the US for my high school. So I was in Texas and Philadelphia area and came back to Korea. Staying with my family for two years, I decided to go abroad to study again, this time, in Europe. So I am currently studying art culture and media in Groningen, the Netherlands, especially film and visual art(painting and stuff)! I really love staying in Europe and explore as much as I can while I can stay on this continent. Most importantly, I wanna get out of my comfort zone and just go!

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

First of all, I am broke art student who wants to travel around and see new things that may open me up to more good things in life. And a friend in my course recommended me to join couch surfing to meet great people and make more experiences;) Also, I would like to hear the local's recommendations or advice. Rather than staying at the hostel, i would like to meet people in more closer way and have good conversations and connections!

Even though I am a travel beginner, there are lots of things i can share and communicate with people 😊

音乐、电影和书籍

This is highly difficult for me to choose... but if I must say,
I love Stanley Kubrick, Chan Wook Park, Studio Ghibli, Woody Allen(controversial, I know), and so many other masters' movies.
For music, I collect vinyl and I basically love all types of genres except for rock ( I love Queen tho)
I love Jazz ( Chet Baker, Bill Evans, Charlie Parker, Duke Ellington),90's Hip-hop (Grime, Biggie, Nas),
disco, house, techno ... oh also, LOVE Michael Jackson.
For books, I do not read that much but I like Alain de Botton's books.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

The fact that I came to Europe. And I have met so many great people. Because my course is international course, I get to meet people around the world, and it is always interesting how we all think very differently about the same subject. I love exploring other cultures and languages.
Also, The fact that I started making paintings was a good life choice.

I learn more about a different culture and people. The daily things in different countries fascinate me, rather than touristic spots. I would love to go to all the art museums and explore more about art as well. And generally I can share my positive and happy energy with my host!

First I can share my life story and some knowledge about art, especially film and visual art. I also make graphic design and film stuff and painting. So If you want to know more about those, maybe I can help;) if I have art supplies to paint I may paint for the host! oh, I also love cooking (though not professional at all) so if I get a chance, I can teach you some different cuisine of food!(texmex, Korean cuisine)
