About Me

As you can see from my pictures, my life is full of random experiences and unique, unrelated talents. I love to explore and seek more random experiences. I am athletic and very active, the woods and mountains are my home. I am used to cultivating the land and the hard, tedious labor of farming. I am passionate about seeing the world and the people that live in it. I want to witness raw culture and get to know people around the entire globe.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

What I really want is to build relationships with people from different places and walks of life. Some people like to travel for nature, history, food, architecture... but for me it's the people I want to visit and to learn about.

I would also love to introduce the Pacific Northwest (my homeland) and Canada to travelers. My family owns an organic herb farm and distillery nestled along the Columbia river in the mountains of Northeast Washington state. It is the example of rural America I want to share with everyone: full of fresh air, family love, delicious food, and open minds. I want to show my growing cousins what the world is like by hosting any travelers that chance a trip this far North. I am willing to meet up and drive/hike/bike/ride people out for an adventure!

Interests

Primarily a Nordic skier, but now I can do pretty much anything on snow. Most of my winter weekends I spend drinking beer and playing hockey, coaching kids to ski, and riding chair lifts with friends. My next big goal is to collect experience in the backcountry and tour my legs off. Rock climbing and mountain biking take up the few dry days I am allowed when not fighting fires. Could watch history channel and related documentaries for hours on end.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Trekked alone, without Sherpa or guide, to 18,000 ft (5,555 meters), reaching he top of Kala Pathar to witness the one and only Mount Everest. This followed by an even greater feat of tracking down the legendary, elusive Himalayan yeti scalp, kept in a glass case and hidden away at the old monastery of Khumjung. :P

Teach, Learn, Share

I know my homeland pretty well, so if anyone is interested in a safe, easy way to get around, I am always up for an adventure. I live right on the border, so it's easy access to both small-town USA and a Canadian cultural experience. Here we have farms, ranches, rivers, creeks, mountains, forests, and lakes. The land offers so many activities like biking, hiking, skiing, horseback riding, swimming, fishing, hunting, etc. and I can act as a resource for all these things.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I still have a lot to experience in life, but I will give my best shot to share what I have with you. I am very clean and self-aware, I am willing to help out around the home. I usually bring a small gift for my hosts, as a token of my gratitude. Along with this I welcome you to my own home should you happen to visit the Pacific Northwest.

See my pictures and read my profile for some things I can share with you if you visit my homeland. I will show you around and tell you what good things there are to see and do. I can expose you to my own culture, I have a welcoming family and I live in a beautiful, remote place.
