Overview
About Me
Hi, I’m Halil Kaptan, 22 years old. I’ve been traveling the world for the past 5 years, and for the last 2 years I’ve been based in the San Francisco area. Soon, I’ll be setting off on another long adventure.
I’m a curious, open-minded, and easy-going person. I love spending time with people, sharing stories, and learning from different cultures. Meeting locals, experiencing their way of life, and trying new things always gives me a deep sense of joy and connection.
My biggest wish is simple — to live a happy life, to be kind, and to treat everyone with respect. Traveling is when I feel most alive, as if I’m truly living. Every trip teaches me something new, not just about the world, but also about myself.
Outside of traveling, I enjoy listening to audiobooks, discovering books about culture, sitting by the beach with a cigarette, getting lost in the music of busy city streets, and exploring local bars where I can meet new people. I’m also a big fan of spontaneous adventures — the kind that start with “Let’s just see where the day takes us.”
I may not have met you yet, but I can already feel your energy. I’m grateful for all the free spirits out there —

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
For me, the best part of being on the road is meeting people. When I travel and spend time with locals, I get to understand the culture on a deeper level — and that means everything to me.
Some of my closest friends today are people I met through Couchsurfing. There’s something special about connecting with others who share the same passion for travel 🥰🙈 It makes the world feel a little smaller, and a lot more meaningful.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I’ve had my share of crazy adventures, but one of the most unforgettable was hitchhiking from Thailand all the way to Laos. For three months, I traveled entirely by hitchhiking, exploring places at my own pace. My backpack was small, my belongings were few — but my happiness was overflowing.
Another incredible chapter of my life was living for about two months on Koh Phangan , a beautiful village in Thailand. There, I met some of the most amazing souls I could ever hope to meet. We shared countless memories, laughed under the stars, and lived life as simply and freely as possible. Those moments will stay with me forever.
Teach, Learn, Share
can tell you funny and sometimes crazy stories from the places I’ve been. I can cook delicious Turkish food and of course share it with you — because food is always better when it’s shared.
I’m always curious to learn about other cultures, your favorite local spots, and maybe even a few secret recipes.
