About Me

Hi all!
My name is Hallel and I'm 24 yo from Israel.
I grew up in a small town in the north of Israel, close to Haifa.
I studied in a Waldorf School and since I was a young boy I was very much into music - playing various instruments and listening to whatever I can find in the house :)
I also like reading books very much, and I espescialy admire Russian Literature, as well as Hebrew Literature.
When I graduated I went on a year of volunteering with my friends in Jerusalem, working with youth and kids in schools and informal education programs.
Then on my Civil Service I was working in an organic farm close to Jerusalem that is a working place for dropout youth who don't have any educational program or structure. I fell in love with the agriculture and the people and stayed another year after finnished my service.
I love people very much, meeting and exchanging ideas and ways of life.
I'm now traveling for an unknown period of time, trying to meet as much people as I can. Learn about different cultures, get inspired and share what I have to offer to the world.
I think Couchsurfing is a great opportunity for people to get to know each other in a way they wouldn't have been able in another form of encounter.
When I go back home I really want to be able to host people on my couch!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

First of all, my intension in my travel is to meet the local people and culture from a closer perspective. I want to try and see the place I'm in through the eyes of the people living there. I think Couchsurfing is a great platform for that. Other than that, it's a great way so save money while traveling...
And... I want also to give this opportunity to other people if they come to Israel!
When I come home I'm definitely going to host people in my place :)

Interests

I'm very intrested in agriculture, and particularly in sustainable agriculture. I am traveling and one of my interests during my trip is also to get exposed to different kinds of agriculture around the world. I think it's a most important subject for the future of humanity and our planet that we can practice agriculture that can feed us all, but also not ruin our home!
I'm also very fond of art - especialy in the form of music and literature :)
And food is also a major thing in my life. I like to try new kinds and tastes, and it's hard to find something that I really don't like to eat. But I guess my favorite would be Greek and Turkish food :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have traveled in the valleys of Moab in Jordan, and that was ine of the most amazing places I've been to. So much water in the middle of the desert!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer some cultural exchange, and tell about the place I'm coming from. I can cook some nice Israeli food. You know Shakshuka?
I can be a party companion, and also happy to chill and have a good talk about politics ;)

Countries I’ve Visited

Germany, Greece, Ireland, Japan, Jordan, Philippines, Scotland, Singapore, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Viet Nam
