About Me

Along with my partner, Steve, we gave up on our corporate jobs to seek adventure whilst travelling the world. Selling everything we own. (Our blog www.2checkingout.com)
I have chosen to lead a vegetarian lifestyle due to my beliefs and values around animal cruelty.
Strongly believe life is about new experiences and helping others rather than accumulating stuff or status.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I believe that couch surfing provides an amazing opportunity to meet people from various cultures and dip our toes into the local community rather than the plastic environment of tourist hotels.

Interests

An animal lover at heart. I have previously had the privalge of sharing my home with 4 gorgeous dogs. We spent a wonderful week volunteering at the elephant nature park in northern Thailand. I regularly support animal welfare groups either by volunteering or putting my voice behind campaigns and petitions.
I have also volunteered for 4 years at the Auckland SPCA with a focus on dogs of all sizes.
I love yoga, my yoga mat is my travel indulgence. Coming with me everywhere. I also love mountain biking whenever I get the chance.

Music, Movies, and Books

Varies taste in music, mostly alternative including Oasis, Artic Monkeys, The Veils, Black Keys and The White Lies . Also some reggae based kiwi music from the likes of Fat Freddy's Drop and Kora. Favourite movie of all time would be Love Actually, yes I know but Christmas in the UK makes me nostalgic. Favourite reads include DJ Molles (zombie apocalypse) and travel books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Shovel lorry loads of elephant poo, washed and prepared food for said elephants. Stared in amazement as a baby orangutan gave its mother a gentle kiss on the lips in the Borneo jungle.
Hike to the Torres del Paine Mirador, a 10 hour hike the hardest we have ever done.
Jumped out of plane twice to raise money for charity.
Swap with the reef sharks and rays in Moorea.

Teach, Learn, Share

Keen to practice my Spanish or help someone with their English. Or share a yoga class (or bottle of wine for that matter and good gossip on travel).

What I Can Share with Hosts
