ABOUT ME

My name's Alex! I'm a fun, relaxed Australian who loves all things outdoors. I've completed 4 years of an Engineering degree in Sydney, but I took a year off in 2009 to travel around Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. I came back home and decided I coudn't quite finish the degree yet, so took another 6 months off in Eastern Europe and the USA. I finally finished my degree last year and just took a 6 week trip in India which was incredible. I'm moving to London in April which is exciting!

I'm very relaxed about everything ... my philosophy is that everything happens for a reason, and not to stress too much. I like to make spontaneous decisions and let my experiences determine my direction in life!

PHILOSOPHY

I like experiences. This means I spend all my money on experiencing things, and not much on material goods. So I'm certainly not the most fashionable person, and I don't have many valuable possessions. I like to have fun without spending much money, which is where the real fun lies!

Intereses

I love music and sport. I'm a guitarist who pretends I can sing, and will pull out my guitar and start playing a song to anyone that wants to listen! Most deaf people enjoy my musical talents.

I play a lot of sport, including cricket, rugby union, Australian football, soccer, tennis etc etc ... if it involves a ball, I'll play it! I also love the beach and everything that comes with it.

Frisbees are quite possibly the best invention of the 20th century, and I'll probably have one somewhere in my bag.

I love going out, having conversations with random people and drinking and dancing until the morning. I'm usually pretty keen on checking out the bars and pubs (and sometimes clubs) of any city that I'm in. They're a great place to meet locals. I also like relaxed nights in, playing cards, listening to music and swapping stories.

I really like costume parties, although most of the time I usually end up dressed in women's clothes.

Música, películas y libros

I like lots of movies, but I'm definitely no movie buff. Everytime I see a movie I think, "Man, I should watch more movies", but then I hardly ever find the time. The British version of "Death At A Funeral" made me laugh very hard! Quentin Tarantino movies are always fun to watch.

My musical taste is mainly rock music, but I like anything that sounds good ... some of my favourite bands and artists are The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dire Straits, The Vines, John Butler Trio, The White Stripes, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Elton John, The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones, The Dandy Warhols, John Frusciante, Michael Franti, Oasis (met them once!), Jimi Hendrix and there's plenty plenty more. I love old-school party bands like KC and the Sunshine band.

I like reading books, Bill Bryson is a funny author and there's plenty of other favourites. One of my favourite books is Life of Pi by Yann Martel. Also, A Thousand Splendid Suns is a fantastic book.

I can teach people some guitar, how to play the djembe, how to throw a sizzling frisbee and how to juggle! Also, apparently I make delicious omelettes, but they will definitely make you fat.
