🤔I'm still on the way knowing myself - that's my life goal (like what Socrate said in thousands years ago), also the main reason I came to Europe. Through seeing the world differently, I hope to explore and find myself too. Perhaps you can read my references to gain a little impression of me or just meeting.
I’m Han, a law student from Beijing and originally from southern China, so mix these two parts a bit. Have spent 6 months soaking up Dutch life at Leiden University in the Netherlands, more than 2 months solo traveling, for seeking for people's stories.
Now preparing for the application of western philosophy master degree in EU and also being a part-time tour guide of Beijing, thriving to show Chinese culture and tradition to the world.

During travels, I’m a culture and history nerd—European museums, quirky cafes, and vintage shops are my happy places . However, after using CS, I found I’m more interested in connecting with locals - their experiences and perspectives always show something you can never learn from books or exhibitions.
In everyday life, I enjoy reading philosophy and literature - they’re my spiritual utopia. Also love art, especially paintings, occasionally draw(my twin brother is a traditional Chinese painting artist and we learned painting together in childhood.
I love writing, almost writing everyday — you could say I'm a passionate amateur writer. Writing, for me, is a way to weave beautiful moments into language. It helps preserve memories, making the fleeting feel lasting, and the limited, limitless.
I often document the cities I visit during my travels, and I also enjoying writing book reviews and film reflections, mostly in Chinese. But recently, I've started experimenting with writing in English — including film reviews I just finished. ( appreciate any feedback or suggestions on it!)
The first link is the review of Aftersun, the second is Oasis.

Since I might stick around Europe for future studies, I’m all about slow travel and living like a local rather than rushing through sights:)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I traveled across Germany using CS for the first time during May 2025. I was incredibly moved and surprised — how much strength and warmth can come from strangers, their kindness, openness, and sincerity gave me the courage to keep moving, and the stories I heard from my hosts made me feel a little less lost.
Cooking together, walking around quiet garden, having deep talks, learning how they chose their current path... I felt I was seeing real life in motion. Those moments were the most memorable parts of my trip.
———
As someone who might pursue further studies in Europe, I want to truly immerse myself in daily life. Staying with a host lets me see a city through the eyes of someone who calls it home, which is priceless within my life.
I’m also a firm believer that culture lives in stories, not just sights. By writing travel journals, I want to honor the people I meet and the moments we share.

As for hosting, since I take CS very seriously and resonate with CS's spirits. So, I'm eager for having good conversations, being treated kindly and sharing moments together. Hope you carry the same mindset :) .

Music, Movies, and Books
Book:
The Birth of Tragedy by Nietzsche
Fear and trembling by Kierkegaard
I love the philosophical thinking patterns— always asking why, the nature of life. These two are actually my philosophical enlightenment, one about art, one about faith.
Simple Passion by Annie Ernaux
The direct, immediate description of a woman’s inner passion - how beautiful and complex it is ! I love Annie’s writing style because she transforms the intimate into the public, universal experiences which can comfort numerous people.
The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien
This trilogy isn’t just a fantasy epic to me—it’s a story that reshaped my life.
Before moving to the Netherlands, I underwent major ankle surgery and spent over a month bedridden, grappling with pain and uncertainty. Tolkien’s Middle-earth became my refuge. Immersed in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, I found myself awestruck by the raw power of friendship. Frodo’s burden, Sam’s loyalty, and the fellowship’s unbreakable bonds mirrored my own struggle: “Every journey feels impossible until someone walks beside you.”
…..
Either read or travel, I’m always on the way.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Discovering—
Being a tour guide of Beijing for foreigner 😆
Solo trip in EU with a backpack for more than one month and talk to strangers in every city I visited, also recording everyone I met in my travelogues.
Being a volunteer in a Dutch homeless shelter( not pretty amazing but it's meaningful for me
Teach, Learn, Share
I believe we can always learn something new from others perspectives and I'd love to see the world differently.
Actually, I learn so much from my host - love, kindness and humanity. Getting along with people is a lifelong learning experience:)
What I Can Share with Hosts
As someone raised in China and now diving into European life, I love swapping stories about traditions, manners, and everyday quirks. Also eager to swap touristy checklists for real connections!
My kitchen superpower? Not outstanding but can still do some Chinese stir-fries😆 But now I'm more used to western food like salad and sandwich. Anyway, we can share what we like!
Most importantly, I'd love and (be honored)to hear your life stories♥️ If you’re available for a museum deep-dive, a lazy café crawl, or a sunset walk through your favorite neighborhood, I’m all about slow travel and turning small moments into lasting memories.
