ABOUT US

Currently, we are living in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Hani is a Senior Researcher at a centre that does community based research, and Zeynab is a Life Cycle Analyst in the EarthShift Global company.

We were born in Urmia, that is located in the West Azerbaijan province of Iran, which is at the North West of the country. Living in different cities of Iran, including Urmia, Tabriz, Zanjan and Tehran, provided us with the chance of learning about different cultures of our home country. Now living in Canada gives us the experience and knowledge in understanding cultures in a broader global context.

Travelling and learning about places, people and other creatures! around us is the best of our dreams that we hope to be able to turn it into reality in our short life.

PHILOSOPHY

With reference to "Sohrab Sepehri", one of the famous Iranian poets:
"I should remember not to commit a thing
to offend against the laws of the earth"

Also, we believe in what Lao Tzu says:
"Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love."

We attend events that are interesting and suitable for us. Also, we would like to host and meet up with people from different places.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have attended in different events and till now we have hosted several people in our apartment.

Intereses

travelling, hiking, camping, climbing, swimming, reading, dancing (especially Azerbaijani traditional dance), cultural conversations, visiting museums, cooking vegan foods, environmental activities, meditation and other activities that would help to spread the peace.
Also, sociology, philosophy and history are among our interests.

We believe the world would be a better place to live for everybody if individuals are familiar with each other's values and norms. This is why we like to spread our connections with different cultures and humans. This network of humans would act as a Social Capital for every member. This social capital can be used by civil society and NGO's against the hegemony of authorities in different aspects. This is a place that the power of powerless people can be shown!
