About Me

I have recently moved to Bologna for the second year of my masters in European Literary Cultures. I spent the last year studying in Strasbourg, France, and prior to that I taught primary and secondary school English near Grenoble where I spent most of my days skiing and exploring the mountains near my home. I also taught secondary school English in Andorra, where I stumbled through learning Catalan and took advantage of the proximity of the Pyrenees. I am passionate about foreign languages and exchange and am interested in learning more about linguistic education and theory, especially as it varies in different education systems. When I am not teaching English or trying to learn a new language myself, you can find me outdoors exploring the natural world. I grew up in the mountains and love to ski, hike and trail run, so I am always up for an adventure. That being said, I also enjoy traveling and exploring new cities, especially with someone who can show me around the hidden gems. A simple walk around the neighborhood or a coffee in a nearby cafe is my ideal way of getting to know a new place. Of course, I love to eat and share a good meal, and I think cuisine is one of the most fascinating and telling ways to learn more about another person. I also enjoy cooking so I am always willing to provide a welcoming, home-cooked meal!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think Couchsurfing is a more interesting way to learn about a new place and the people that live there, and I find that exchanges like this often lead to enriching experiences and unexpected friendships.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

During the summer I live in a small cabin on the side of a mountain, which serves as both my home and my place of work. While there I carry food and trash in and out, welcome hikers who are coming through, give educational programs and cook meals for those who are staying the night. There are no roads or any way to get there other than your own two feet, so it is an isolated and wild place, and a very special one to call home.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: Some cooking skills, French, English, skiing
Learn: Really anything you have to offer!
Share: A good meal, a drink, a nice walk, engaging discussion, literally any adventure outdoors, preferably in the mountains

What I Can Share with Hosts

I deeply value engaging and critical conversation. I also adore recipe sharing and cooking together, as well as any experience shared in the outdoors.
