About Me

I recently graduated in sociology and have been travelling around since then. I don't have my own place so can't accept guests at the moment but I dream of being a host one day. I've been living in San Francisco since January: part time working in a cafe and part time in a refugee charity - I love it here.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet lovely people and experience places from a local perspective. I've been so moved by the generosity and level of trust of the hosts I've stayed with so far in Mexico and Spain, getting a glimpse into their lives and trying to give something back in return. Once money is removed from the equation it's a completely different way of interacting with strangers and learning something about the world.

Interests

A keen people-watcher, always looking to travel and learn more, love talking politics and feminism, as well as discovering new music, reading, cooking, rock climbing, yoga, photography and film editing, running, dancing, writing and doodling.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like watching Spanish films- Almodovar is the greatest. Some of my all time musical favs inlclude Erykah Badu, Nina Simone, Simon + Garfunkel, Haitus Kayote, Nick Drake, Floating Points, Laura Marling, Radiohead, Billie Holiday, Flying Lotus, Amy Winehouse, Amadou + Mariam... always searching for music and trying more to listen to full albums.

I stopped reading novels throughout my degree and read only social science stuff but am getting back into them now- I used to love reading Latin American magical realism stuff including Isabelle Allende. Recently couldn't put down Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Alice Walker, Ursula Le Guin..

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook a mean veggie / vegan meal if you're up for that! Also willing to share music, stories laughs, be a hiking or climbing partner, or help you improve English.
