About Me

I moved to Scotland last fall, and I've been falling all the way in love with nature. My favourite thing to do is go on a run at sunset and periodically stop to just appreciate the sky in its technicolored glory. Also, dancing in the freezing beach water on a sunny day after submitting an essay that I stayed up until 7AM to finish writing. Share your life and its moments with the nature around you,, it jacks the saturation, and everything is brighter!

I'm an English student in my brain and in my heart. I read as much as I am able; I write prose and some ironic and not so ironic poetry; and I love to speak with people about that one book, whatever it was, that blew your mind.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm young and overwhelmed by the number of places and people that I haven't experienced/ met. Couchsurfing is the perfect marriage of those two ideas: explore a new city and connect with new people.

If you think about each day in your life like a meal, it just makes sense that you would want to try all of the spices, all of the cuisines, let your palette experience the spectrum. I think that maybe couchsurfing is the turmeric of my nineteen year old life?

Music, Movies, and Books

Too many, so many.
Indie, folk, pop, rock, r&b, and then also whatever music has the electronic sounding pop waves mixed with weirdly synthetic alien voices. Also, jazz?

I've taken one semester of Film Studies, so I feel just barely qualified to say Shape of Water is my favourite.

This summer I read Gillian Flynn's Gone Girl and, wow. Big recommend. Also, easy favourites: The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, The Great Gatsby, Brave New World, and Anna Karenina (at least in translation).

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can draw a picture of your face! I've taken art classes all of my life, and I find that drawing portraits helps me to connect with people. There is something so exciting about seeing what you look like through a stranger's eyes. I can be that stranger, and you can keep the drawing of course.

I also have enough enthusiasm for cooking to make up for my very moderate degree of skill. I will make you something, and it could maybe be delicious.
