I was born in San Francisco and grew up living in different countries around the world with my family (Australia, & Turkey to name a couple). I've spent the last 3 years working as a consultant and living in London, and travelling around whenever I can.

I am particularly fond of overland travel by foot or by bike, but in general I love exploring new places and new cultures. I'm very curious and I love to learn about the history, cuisine, culture and people in all the places I go to by meeting locals - this is why the CS community is so good!

I'm easy going and curious about people from all walks of life. I would say I am pretty adventurous and love to give new things a go.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is a wonderful community to be a part of. The world is an amazing place because of all of the amazing people within it, and their knowledge and culture. The opportunity to share that is so exciting! I would love to learn more about this world and to experience different ideas and experiences.

I enjoy meeting new people and always find that the best way to experience a place is with local people.

Interests

I love visiting historic places and going on a ride on a ferry or a boat. I LOVE listening to music at anytime during the day. I like going to cinema and social events like musical concerts or galleries. Cooking is my passion so I try to learn many dishes from different cuisines. I frequently ride my bicycle along the seaside.

In exchange for your hospitality I can entertain you with travel stories, share tips on living and travelling in East Africa (especially as a solo female traveler) and offer general good-hearted banter.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love reading! Not sure I could name a favourite book - I always have one on the go and read a really wide range of books. I generally prefer non-fiction to fiction, and love to learn about new topics by reading.

I am a really big fan of world music and jazz/funk genres - my favourites 'world music' genres are from the Arabic world and from east Africa!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-Cycling across Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand with my family
-Kayaking and camping along the Boise river in USA
-Hiking the SW coastal path in Cornwall
-Multiple road trips across Europe with my friends!!
-Cycling touring across Morocco

I am a keen photographer (especially film cameras) and more than happy to share my knowledge of film photography with anyone keen to learn!

I will happily help anyone to practice their English, and would be really keen to learn some parts of a language in return!
