About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Fixing up my home and saving for the next adventure.

ABOUT ME

I am a bit of a nomad at heart. Love to wander, explore, find new places. I have always been a fan of the hole in the wall places that are off the beaten path. I moved to Ottawa 13 years ago for work in a Microbiology lab, but have lived coast to coast in Canada over the years. Our household consists of myself, my adult son (who is studying Physics and Math at a local University) and our dog Cleo. My time is split between work, volunteering, hiking and spending the occasional night at the pub or sitting by the fire table on the back deck. Our house is a busy place on a quiet street, but still easy to transit downtown, or walk if you don't mind a long hike.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Being in possession of a travelers spirit I like to pass on good will to similar characters who are embarking on their own adventures. The world is a fascinating place and meeting those who are exploring it is the next best thing to exploring it yourself.

Interests

Hiking, Reading, Camping, Food, Theatre, Music, Film .... and much more. My bookshelves and cupboards are always kept well stocked. Food for the mind and body makes life worthwhile. I am interested in any medium of story telling be it page or tune, or on screen. And of course I love anything to do with the outdoors.

Music, Movies, and Books

Too many to list.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have had great moments within Canada itself. Hiking in a thunderstorm on the bay of Fundy created indelible memories, it impressed all five senses...the sound, sight, smell, and taste of the waves and the feel of the wind. Also the prairies in the summer are beautiful and seem infinite. The blue fields of flax and the yellow mustard fields are awe inspiring, and it is hard to find anything that makes you feel like you are peering out into the universe more then watching the northern lights on a prairie night, or watching a lightening storm move in. More recently I hiked the Camino de Santiago with my son and father which was a trip of a lifetime.
