CURRENT MISSION
ABOUT ME
I am rather Inquisitive and can easily become consumed with a topic that speaks to me. It can be everything from a book, a political or philosophical subject or a musical piece or practise. When I delve into a topic I want to understand every aspect of it. In other words I can be quite a nerd. ;)
This curiosity extends to people and psychology. I strive to gain better understanding of all kinds of human beings and other creatures. Sometimes I am over-ambitious.
I value empathy, open -mindedness and tolerance, but also integrity and reason.
have since childhood taken a personal interest in several different justice issues: ecological, social and political and I am truly interested in making a positive change in the world inofar as I can in my life.
One of the issues that is closest to my heart right now is veganism and I am looking into ways in which I can contribute to progressing the movement for animal rights and ecology. I am very interested in meeting vegans and other like-minded people. :)
Something else that matters greatly to me, but on a different level is music.
I play jazz guitar and I like to explore different types of music, especially right now non-western music.
A dream of mine is to be able to combine this interest with some type of community/social work (the making the world a better place thing), though I have yet to decide if this is a reasonable carreer choice in therms of making a the best contribution.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I had my first expereince couchsurfing recently, this August when I went on a short backpacking trip (2 weeks) in Spain, France and Switzerland. I stayed at tree different places through CS (more through other contacts). My expereince witch all the people who hosted me has been very positive. People have helped me out in so many ways, almost so much I don't know how I could return the favour; shared their stories, guided me to beautiful sites, fed me with good food, given me every kind of helpful tip and even paid for activities without asking. A great thing was that staying with and making friends with one host opened the door to meeting so many other people (and sometimes getting another place to stay). Most of it was very spontaneous and my trip ended up quite different from what I had planned.
I really hope to be able to 'return the favour' soon when I finally get an apartment of my own, or share with a friend here in Stockholm.

Music, Movies, and Books
I am on my was to study engineering because I like to solve problems and see how things work. However my biggest passion in life is music. As an aspiring musician (though not as a career right now) I am keen to discover new artists and genres, but I guess my 'home' right now is jazz, but I like all kinds of music (as Long as it moves you, right?). I like to explore non-western music, especially from the Middle East, India and West Africa. Since I'm already in 'wall of text- mode' I'll name drop some musicians that have meant a lot to me: Wayne Shorter, Django Reinhardt, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Lennie Tristano & co, Sheryl Bailey, John McLaughlin (Shakti, Mahavishu Orchestra), Zakir Hussain, Avishai Cohen, John and Alice Coltrane, Clifford Brown, Nina Simone, Billie Holliday, Esperanza Spalding, Paco DeLucia, Gil-Scott Heron, Jimi Hendrix, King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Tool, Sigur Rós, E.S.T., Lykke Li, Björk, Florence + the Machine, Peter Gabriel, Talking Heads, Ebba Grön, Naseer Shamma, Sona Jobarteh, Fatoumata Diawara, Shankar (Ravi, Anoushka), J.S. Bach, Debussy, Messiaen, Bartok and Stravinsky. Puh!
Some favourite movies & books: Life of Brian, Pan's Labyrinth, Shawshank Redemption, High Crimes, Blood Diamond, Free Play, The Kite Runner, Mornings in Jenin, Between Two Worlds Escape from Tyranny: Growing up in the Shadow of Saddam, + love anything from Hayao Miyazaki right now.
