About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Keep on walking

ABOUT ME

Ghent is my hometown. I studied here and still live here. But I am not a homebird. Two years ago I went to Berlin for 11 months (Erasmus programme). I have just returned from an internship in Amsterdam.

I travel whenever I can. I like to meet new people, make new friends and learn to look at things differently.

PHILOSOPHY

I know that human beings and fish can coexist peacefully. (G.W. Bush)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I invited two Japanese tourists who were traveling in Belgium to have diner at my place. I met them in an Asian supermarket, where I was searching for ingredients to make sushi. We started talking and I invited them. One of them - a girl - stayed for two days. After that she went to France. A few weeks later we met in Girona, Spain and spent a nice holiday there.

I have been surfing serveral couches in the US. I met great people during that trip...

Interests

Literature, arts, meeting new people, making friends all over the world, learning new languages, get to know other cultures... and next to all these very serious interests I also like swimming and scuba-diving. Whenever I have enough money and time, I try to travel.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Two of my favorite English books are "Jane Eyre" (Charlotte Brontë) and "Disgrace" written by Coetzee. As for German literature, I like the works of Mann, Kafka and Imgard Keun. And I love reading fairy tales. And if one of you wants to read a Dutch novel, I can recommend the works of Willem Elsschot.

I don't know much about movies, but I like Kubrick's films. One of the most fascinating films I have seen lately is the six hour "La meglio gioventu". "Das Leben der anderen" was also a very touching film. I also like animated cartoons(Shrek, Chicken Run...)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think that my first dive was one of the most amazing things I have done. It is a new feeling and you get to see a whole new world.

The sunrise tour to Tikal in Guatemala simply took my breath away. Seeing the sun rise above the ruins in the middle of the jungle... Hearing the monkeys and the birds. I must confess that we do not have such sights in Belgium.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love cooking. I have spent some time abroad and I always get to know new ingredients. I am not afraid to try new things. (Although I must say that I don't like intestins and Peruvian aphrodisiacs.)

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Guatemala, Italy, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Singapore, Slovakia, Spain, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
