About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn, create, dance, and help. To see and laugh and build and eat.

ABOUT ME

I have never really liked these personal description things, much preferring a conversation to some quick adjectives. I do not like limits, I choose creativity over religion, I like people (especially those that also like people), and I have an above-average love for food (as in, even if food were not required to live, I would still die without it).

I prefer to learn to see, hear, smell, touch, and taste anew every day.

PHILOSOPHY

We're really going to have to talk about this one. Some people write books about these things.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like books that open my eyes, increase my capacity for love, make me laugh. Books written with courage.
The same could be said of my taste in movies, though I admittedly watch relatively few movies. I like Woody Allen, Quinten Tarantino, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Natalie Portman.
I like being surprised by new music. I like rhythm, harmony, and the courage to unleash the song of our souls. Daft Punk is the greatest thing since Jimmy Hendrix. Four Tet, Ratatat, Pretty Lights, Bon Iver, and Neil Young are some of my current favorites.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once saw a beetle in the street. There was a car coming. I saved the beetle. I'll never forget how happy I was to save that life, and what it means to help other living beings continue and expand their own lives.

Helping to build the roof of a neighbor's new home, I sat atop the gable overlooking the neighborhood. I felt in that moment serenity. To have helped provide a refuge for a person; I place to protect them from harm, a place from which they can manifest good, a place where they might, with luck, find peace.

Where I grew up there was one particularly poisonous type of spider. I found one outside the window to my room. I tried to kill it, but it was really big, and I sort of missed (I had an even more profound fear of spiders then than I do now--I didn't want to get close). I hit a few of the spider's legs, and it fell to the ground rather seriously impaired. Another spider of the same kind quickly jumped from underneath the siding that meets the ground, . The hidden spider grabbed the impaired spider and pulled it into its lair. I still don't know whether it was an act of cannablism, altruism, or otherwise.

Teach, Learn, Share

Everything I know and love. I have an insatiable curiousity, and love introducing people to new, world-changing experiences.
Practically, I'm a pretty good cook. I could teach you a bit about architecture or drawing. I have a thorough understanding of the history of philosophy too. I love words.
