About Me
ABOUT ME
In the recent past I had two people comment on how they described me to their friends. One said that I was a Renaissance man; the other said I was a highly educated hillbilly. I will not reject either billing. I am single, have three adult children, am a committed in my faith (although my belief set probably includes items of offense for everyone), and I strive to live a life of deliberate involvement.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am not a fan of corporate financial gain. Plus, I love the reality of real people. The only time I ever got burned buying a used car was when I bought it from a company. In essence, I trust people more than companies/corporations/governments. So, by extension, I would much rather connect at a real, visceral level with fellow humans than go through the sterile experience of corporate hotels. I also love B+Bs and AirBNB for the same reasons.
Interests
General interests include food/wine, photography, music, books, all things water related, theater, travel, just about anything sports/exercise related, and music.

Music, Movies, and Books
A Bell for Adano, My Life as a House, Song of Solomon, Oscar Peterson, The Enneagram, Tab Benoit, Let it Ride, Homecoming, Post Modern Jukebox, What Every Body is Saying, Verdi's Requiem, Calvin and Hobbes, The Real Slim Shady ...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
First time I heard Franz Bibel's Ave Maria. My daughter's wedding. The photos taken of that guy surfing where the clarity is astounding and the colors magnificent. The first time a girl kissed me (I was 2!) ... Oh wait, that was more than one; sorry!
Teach, Learn, Share
While I am quite poorly traveled, I have a plethora of experiences, knowledge, information, and a passion for more. I love conversation where there is that natural give-and-take of relationship and experience.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can virtually promise you that I will be the most polite, considerate, and interesting person you could host. With my diverse background, genuine interest in who you are and what you think (and more importantly, a genuine interest in why you think what you do!), I bring both a strong respect for boundaries and good manners along with a willingness to explore conversation and ideas at whatever level is comfortable!
