About Me

Hi! I was born and raised in Eugene, Oregon, but also grew up in San Diego, CA, and Tulsa, Oklahoma. I've been a professional musician, a beekeeper, a kindergarten teacher, a professor of English, and even a mom, the wildest, most challenging opportunity yet! I've just returned to the US of A this year after living abroad for over 10. My husband and I got married and left for work in Seoul, South Korea (amazing place!!) beginning of 2009, lived and worked there a year, then backpacked Southeast Asia and Europe for four months thinking we'd return home. But as we traveled, we learned of another more wild opportunity abroad that kept us away. I personally couldn't even imagine landing on the ground of such a mysterious place... So after visiting with family, we again left, but this time for the Middle East. We had decided to live and work in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for two years (my husband three, as I left to work in Singapore for the one and final year he stayed in Saudi). I taught at King Saud University teaching medical students English composition, literature, etc. and ended up teaching the Al Saud princesses privately in their home! Don't ask me! One day I was riding in the back of a cab in Saudi Arabia (when it was still illegal for women to drive) and the Beatles were playing softly in the background after leaving the home of people who own endless private jets, have more hired help in their home than most companies, and influence the most powerful of countries, and I thought, "Never ever crossed my mind" and smiled. My husband and I have kind of found our way as we've gone through life. We weren't the type that had everything planned though I think with experience, in our case, we've been able to learn very much what we'd like at this point... to some degree, LOL. For we are who we are, adaptable, happy, open people who like to live the good life and enjoy new people, experiences, and opportunities. After Saudi, we then moved to the Las Vegas of the Middle East, an island country called Bahrain where we had our daughter, Berlin (one of our favorite cities) and our son, Epic Hart (named after my beautiful mother) where we lived and worked for five years, until it was absolutely time to come home for my husband to return to school for an engineering degree and for us to raise our family WITH family, until the next opportunity... and it will come. This world is absolutely meant to be explored and enjoyed!

Note: I am not open to any romantic kind of opportunities with others. My husband and I are very traditional and happy to keep it that way. To us, choosing each other every day is part of what makes what we have so special.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couchsurfing because I got bit by a spider - I know, right - what does THAT have to do with anything!? Well, it was a brown recluse. It bit me on my vein and has sent me into a tailspin that has caused me to seek biological medical help that my state does not offer. So I'm going to an excellent holistic clinic, and as with most things medically sound, it's incredibly expensive, but well worth it to save my life! Cutting any sort of costs we're incurring will help our family tremendously, so here I am!

After we returned from Bahrain, I learned that I had cancer. We dealt with that. Then I learned I had mercury poisoning. We dealt with the source of that, too. Then the brown recluse bite happened. We had worked so hard to save to put my husband through school for the next five years. Instead, we almost put him through one year but repeatedly dealt with my health being under attack. It's time to get well! 2020, here I come!

Interests

I honestly can't wait to be on the other side of health issues, being the one to help! I want to HELP people with the ailments for which allopathic medicine sometimes scratches its head, leaving people without answers. I'm so inspired by my own journey, because I've seen what can happen to people. Luckily I'm tenacious, pretty knowledgable health-wise, and love solving riddles, especially the ones that stand in the way of my being able to take care of my family and be a contributing member of society. I want to go back to school myself after I whip this latest health challenge. And I will! Life is learning...

Music, Movies, and Books

Music, where do I start? I love electronic - so many kinds, including: IDM, drum and bass, ambient, trance... I love jazz, reggae, hip hop, folk, bluegrass... Honestly, I love good music.

Author: Robert Heinlein!!!! I love sci-fi.... things that make me better, spiritual books. I'll read any author that speaks to me or about any subject of interest, which could be anything.

Favorite movie: The Royal Tenenbaums!!! I know, I dated myself, but hey, AMAZING. I love anything I can learn from or that makes me question things, anything beautiful, inspiring. There has to be a point to things. I don't like dark things, except of course a reasonably dark comedy or something that has a point which is for good.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm scared of heights but I've skydived! EEK! Less wild to me but possibly more to you, I've birthed both of my babies at home without any medical professionals. It was beautiful. I feel very blessed that I was able to bring them into the world that way.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to the cross streets of Viet Nam! Or how to longboard! Or cook! ;-) Or yoga!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share truth, respect, cleanliness, a cooked meal, a laugh, who knows. Opportunities are endless.
