HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Currently introducing myself to the surfing community. I was introduced to CS over a year by an active friend of the community. (Techically - an unecpected female surprised the crap out of me when I knocked and entered my friends house! lol - who was this unfamiliar face?... a Couch Surfer indeed! I've since come to meet several surfers and been able to share in the learning of some of Austin's Best! (There's a long way to go!!!!)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far.... just realizing that when you sign up for couch surfing and you simply follow the getting started steps... profile etc... You're first asked your interests... which is where I pretty much typed all of the info for the other boxes too...(which for some reason I never saw until I found 'this' page) so anyways - I hope it all shows up because I'm not going to fix it right now. :-D

Well - as an artist that really loves being an artist.... starving or otherwise... I'm really always making something. It not directly related to the studio - I'm joining my friends and TXNORML to fight the War on People... I mean medicine....uh. fiber er fuel.. eehh clothing.. HEMP.... ohh oh..... "DRUGS" That's it.. Yes the War on Drugs. It's JUST WRONG!

Then there's our food supply to worry about. Yes yours too! (Monsato got to go.... And he can take his GMO!)
I'm your friendly neighborhood garden assistant, herb harvester and tomato plant pincher. You'd be amazed at the feeling of hand selecting and drying all of your own little herbs {that you grew with your friends}, then carefully selecting Happy Hollow Glass herb jars to store them in. So - Back to this Happy Hollow Glass herb jar thing....

OH YEAH I blow glass daily and my studio is Happy Hollow Glass! I want to STOMP the plastic HABIT with all of my functional art glass. :-D
It falls right in with Austin's NEW plastic bag BAN - Several of the years prior to our recent ban some of my works were focused on this issue. VICTORY!! (fyi... our grocery stores don't have plastic bags (NOPE - NOT EVEN WALLY (not that I'd recommend shopping there - THIS IS AUSTIN.
So what do we do? We all had to weave really BIG baskets that fit on top of our head and hold an entire cart of groceries - and we ride lots of bikes here in ATX... but don't tell - some people think it's really hard to do simple things to help ...

Basically I'm just another "like-minded" individual. Our world has clear issues - some seem to have clear solutions. ... to sum it up with 'A little bit a Lotte' quote -
"Don't do nothing!..."
I guess there isn't a ton left to say except... "Until again...."

I love almost any kind of music! I'm a back to front book skimmer and prefer spending my time utilizing the knowledge in hands on application!
Movies? what are those?
I haven't owned a TV in about 4 years. Internet provides all of the documentaries I like as well as Discovery, Cooking network, Travel and Nat Geo! That's good enough for me. (actually I probably spend less than an hour a month watching anything.) I'm a do-er not a watcher!
I have played Violin since '92 but paused for about 10 years. I play daily again (past year) but only as a hobby - Working toward relying less on sheet music and joining local friends to jam!

Are we humans so udderly boring that we only get a "ONE" here? I mean... I've at least "seen" AND "done" ONE amazing thing EACH!!! what do I do....

WHERE DO I START? I am thankful to be surrounded with many friends that share MANY skills. As a unit - Our most focused goals are to share our knowledge of human food supply issues CURRENTLY at hand. If we can't eat... we can go NO further! PLANT FOOD - WE'll help you!
To put that in "Lotte'lingo". The long term focus is on creating a sustainable off the grid community! It wasn't all that long ago that we did NOT have all of these modern conveniences.
So specifically what do "I" do?
Right now the HERBS are poppin! We want to have homegrown herbs through the winter... How do I make these fresh herbs last?
No dehydrator... No fancy stuff...
I run a kiln regularly and therefore basally have a built in dehydrator! While the kiln's going, I'm usually making art glass storage for those very herbs!
This is just one fast current example.
The best way to sum this tiny bit of info up is to say that I'd like to put anything an everything that comes my way to use!
ZERO WASTE.
