Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Summer(2010) my son Trevor and I did an incredible 2 month house swap with 4 different families in Europe. May/June (2011)we travelled to Nicaragua and had an amazing volunteer experience with Esperanza Granada for 5 weeks. A couchsurfing road trip for 2 weeks( August 2011)down through the United States was amazing. We had an incredible travel adventure throughout Asia in May/June 2012 for 5 1/2 weeks and were welcomed by many wonderful CSers. During our 5 week adventure to Europe in May, June of 2013, we again were welcomed by some wonderful Csers. 2014 , our travelling down to Florida we missed out on Csing and again, my travels in 2015 consisted on volunteering with NGOs and Csing was not needed. I love house swapping, volunteering and couch surfing!!! I highly recommend Csing and welcome others to my home. I consider it paying it forward and love the concept!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We have met and stayed with the most incredible people..helping us to make memories to last a lifetime! There is just something unique and special about the type of people who are on the CS site..I am so thankful to have been introduced to this amazing way of travelling!
We have hosted several terrific CSers since joining early in 2011 and look forward to meeting and welcoming more!
Interests
For me, Kathy, I just want the whole world to be happy and do my best to share my philosophy of: live well; laugh much and love often! My nickname is happykat because I am always happy, positive and upbeat. I try to make the most of each day because I truly believe each day is a gift and maybe we won't be here tomorrow? I have many friends and love meeting new people.

Music, Movies, and Books
I have so many favourite books and just finished 1000 Splendid Suns by Kaled Hosseini and loved it. I also have just finished 3 Cups of Tea by Greg Mortgensen and Do they Hear You When you Cry? by Fauziya Kassindja; very powerful and inspirational reading.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Awestruck?
Seeing how the people of Granada, Nicaragua live on next to nothing when Trevor and I volunteered there for 5 weeks in May/June 2011 and were always smiling and happy! I will never, ever forget these people. Same for my volunteer experiences in Guatemala for the Guatemala Stove Project and in Haiti for Volunteers for Peace. Beautiful people!
Finishing my first marathon in Amsterdam, Holland at age 55, when prior to training for it I could not run a single block! Then going on to run 11 more!
When the first couchsurfer walked through my door in the winter of 2011 and finding out becoming a couchsurfer is so fun and amazing!
