About Me

I live in a small apartment in the center of Zagreb and work as an architect and designer from here. I am fast-paced, never bored, very open and friendly to anyone but always more interested in a genuine connection, so I rarely accept generic requests and one-night guests who are just passing through my city. If I have the time, I want to spend some time with my guests and get to know them, gain some insight into their minds - maybe learn something new, and improve some of my own opinions and positions.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I discovered CS a decade ago and loved the concept immediately. It is very much aligned with my far left-leaning worldview, where people are supposed to share stuff and help each other, building trust and friendships through this process. During my studies in Sarajevo, I used to live in a large apartment with amazing roommates, where we hosted many cool people. We used to have guests all the time (except during exams), sharing experiences and stories, and showing them our city. Sarajevo is one of the more charming cities and deserves a guide because, with a little help and backstory, you can read the city better. Some of the people I met there via CS are dear friends now.

Now in Zagreb, I live alone and usually spend my free time with friends, so why not some new ones as well? So I accept surfers whenever I don't have a busy week, which is not that often, but hey...

Also, when I travel, I often prefer to have someone expecting me there. That way I get to know the city and the culture better and maybe make a new friend.

Interests

I like meeting different people and exploring new topics. My interests are many and I always pick up new ones. Some of my main interests are applied arts and crafts, philosophy, sci-fi, and motorbikes. I love traveling, learning, talking, exploring new places, and meeting new people. I have a lot of friends in many cities and it's never enough.

Music, Movies, and Books

There is so much different stuff I listen to, across many genres. I used to be a metalhead so there are many bands and heavy sounds I like and I like parties and raves also, so there's dnb and techno and stuff like that. But I love getting tipsy on wine during a good live jazz gig.

I don't have an ultimate top list of favorite movies and books because I keep discovering new favorites all the time. I like science fiction more and more, proportional to my growing rational fear of the future. A lot of books I read are in some way related to my profession but that covers almost anything, so that area of interest is wide as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

During my studies, I founded an architectural magazine Tristotrojka (303) (https://issuu.com/tristotrojka) that is still operational 10 years later.

What is really amazing is the large international team that volunteers on the project. Young people from several ex-Yu countries working together on arts and architecture.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to learn about everything and from everyone. For me, that's one motive for socializing and meeting new people but also I often discover someone I really like and want to be friends with. I share as much as I know, so besides a place to sleep and sharing dinner I can offer some insight about the Balkans - its history and architecture, culture, and people.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Talks, walks, and stuff, but also drinks, food, or smokes if I can bring some local stuff with me.
