I'm a musician who travels quite a bit for gigs. I'm pro-pro and anti-anti, a foe of the status quo and a friend of innovation. I guess I made an account a handful of years ago and never activated it. I've never actually stayed with anyone from the site so I don't have references or feedback yet. I guess that is a big deal, but you can't gain references if nobody gives you a chance. Everyone needs a first chance to try something. Just like someone gave you your first opportunity to try something new.

I joined couchsurfing to find safer ways to travel and still be immersed in the community. Hotels are expensive and create a barrier between the traveler and the community. I usually travel very light with a guitar, a backpack filled with snacks, 2 hammocks, hygiene kit and my cellphone.

I tend to make friends in new places very quickly and connect with artsy people, musicians, and other creatives. I get along with people from all walks of life and often connect dots for friends. I try to approach every place as if I was just born and see the world as an interesting place even if I've traveled the same path a thousand times.
