About Me

Let's see I am from Lafayette, La originally, joined the US Army at 17 as a medic, and traveled for about 8 years before being medically discharged, and immediately went into school for nursing. I graduate in the fall and I am currently touring Europe a bit, both to celebrate and in hopes of further expanding my mind and understanding of the world. I love traveling and feel it is the best way to expand ones mind and perspectives. I am big into hiking and the outdoors and now that I am leaving my study abroad group and traveling on my own I plan to do as much out in nature as possible.
I like to consider myself a genuine and honest person, I try to treat people as I would like to be treated and believe we are all just trying to find a way to survive this crazy world while finding as much happiness along the way as we possibly can. I try to live this mantra and give people as much of my understanding and compassion as I can, which is also likely why I keep gravitating towards careers where helping others is the common theme.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am trying to get around Europe and would like to get off the tourist track whenever possible, and to do that I will need the help of locals, and people who know the areas and even better, the best places to hike or go out. Even better would be someone like minded who would be interested in not only telling me the best places to go, but who also might want to share in some of these experiences. I enjoy staying at the typical Airbnb, but not only do they get pricey, they dont really offer a person from the area who would like to hang out and share in some of the area. I know not everyone who hosts has the time or even the energy for this, and thats completely fine, but this is a far better chance than I would have with any alternative. The other reason I am looking to couch surf is because again, I think that meeting more people from more backgrounds with more varying ideas and experiences we can better understand the world and get rid of biases and such so the more people I can meet the more I can learn from everyone.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all music really, some of my favorite genres include rock, hip-hop, and EDM. Favorite favorite groups are Muse, The Mars Volta, Logic, Hopsin, Big Gigantica, Steve Aioki, and the likes. I love the Marvel movies, comedies like Step Brothers, action movies, and not a big fan of horror movies, because they arent really scary anymore, and are more just shock and gore.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, in the military I have deployed to two wars, which I guess the level of amazing is dependent on your political leanings, just know I am not a conservative or a Trump or Bush supporter, I wanted to help and became a medic to do so. I've got a few 2,500m mountains under my boots now as well, and I get to help keep people alive as a trauma medic and nurse, which is amazing to me.

Teach, Learn, Share

Not sure what to put here, but I obviously have medical experience, I was a biology major for three years before switching to nursing and did well at it, I only switched because it felt like I was missing my calling. I also love astronomy and philosophy and would love to share my thoughts and hear yours.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Well I am a kind person, I have a good bit of wisdom to share from a lifetime of experiences that arent exactly traditional. Im pretty funny and may make you laugh after we become comfortable with one another. I love a good conversation and someone who can hold one on topics that are interesting.
