About Me

Based in Bristol I work in journalism for BBC News and BBC Introducing (music)

I also write a blog about trying to leader a greener lifestyle - something I'm really interested in and have made quite good progress in since I started really trying in January.

I'm a veggie/pescatarian and love trying new food - it's probably my favourite part of travelling!

I also like to cook, so let's cook together!

Although brought up in the city I love being in the nature and exploring.

I'm currently travelling North and Central America on my first big solo adventure since 2010.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to meet new people - staying with someone who lives in the area is a much better way to experience it too!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2014 I travelled to Rio de Janeiro after crowdfunding for my community radio station to go there and report on the World Cup. We met a young guitar orchestra based in a favela - their teacher was trying to bring something positive into their lives as most of the male figures in their lives were involved in drug and gun crime (there were gun shots in the room behind when we went to watch them)

We then fundraised again to bring them to Bristol two years later and they played on the radio and TV and performed in the world famous Colston Hall - they were like mini superstars. We hope it inspired them to continue with music and not get caught up in the troubles surrounding them.

I feel I made friends for life with this teenagers and hope to visit them again soon to see how they're doing.

My Portugese is terrible and they don't speak English - it was amazing the great chats we had using Google Translate!
