Overview
About Me
Music and literature enthusiast hailing from the United Kingdom. Slowly preparing some trips over the course of my Gap year. As an aspiring creator, to experience contrasting cultures and socialise with new people will help build a worldly understanding. I have only the beginnings of a relationship with travel; it was only a few years ago I left the UK to go abroad. As we become a more interconnected planet my aim is to keep up with these changes and challenge myself to leave home often and meet as many new people as possible.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To both socialise and mature. I figure that it is in my best interest to leave my homeland over course of my gap year; I aim to return an better person. Whilst a long trip would be ideal, various short term ventures are currently my aim due to commitments with work (have to save up for university somehow!). Through meeting new people I hope that I can provide an enjoyable partner in travel. I am prepared to experience many things too: From hiking up hills and mountains, to learning about a country's culture, to experiencing the nightlife - You'll find that I'm ready for a plethora of perspectives and cultures.
As I have plans to study in America for a year in university, going abroad on my own shall help bolster my confidence when it comes to moving over there.
Interests
Growing up with a wide range of music in my life, courtesy of my dad, I have grown to build an expansive range of tastes from prog-rock, to punk, to rap, to black metal, to indie, to ambient, and many more! (Though the amount of genres and sub-genres that currently exist in music is absurd, I don't want to bore you with an essay-length list!). Thanks to my dad's record collection, I have started my own and have delved into music from all decades. It is a rich art form and one that I shan't stop talking about if you get me hooked on the topic in conversation!
Another huge passion of mine is literature. It is the most timeless and, simultaneously, human modes of expression out there. Stemming from studying it in sixth form, my appetite for reading accelerated and I found myself reading authors from all different time periods and on all topics. I am a big fan of classics as, like Henry David Thoreau noted they are "the noblest recorded thoughts of man".

Music, Movies, and Books
For music I absolutely adore David Bowie. He is the one major artist who I have loved since early adolescence and continue to do so to this day. The man was a great inspiration both musically and on a personal level. Other favourite artists include: Brian Eno, Oneohtrix Point Never, Aphex Twin, Sufjan Stevens, Danny Brown, Joy Division, Japan, David Sylvian, Nick Drake, Animal Collective, and many more.
Amongst all the books I have read, there are five that stand atop all for the sheer material I have read by them: Jorge Luis Borges, Arthur Rimbaud and Yukio Mishima, Henry David Thoreau and Anton Chekhov. Though I find my taste is ever changing, I'm sure in a few months this list may change (though I shall never dispel my love for Borges!)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I tipped various Lingerie Mannequins in NYC with $1 (Generous, I know).
Teach, Learn, Share
Something I'm incredibly fond of is learning. I find the more I lessons I can accumulate from different peoples, the more personal a philosophy I can develop. That said, I'm sure I have a few facts floating around in my head that I can tell you about.
What I Can Share with Hosts
For what I can share? I can provide long conversations on literature, my British perspective on world affairs (whether that's a plus who knows), a knowledge on literature and acting, a concise recollection of all David Bowie's albums and moments. I am incredibly polite, sometimes overly so, and I aim to always be respectful! Once I befriend someone I dedicate a good amount of time to conversations and learning from one another, so expect a lot of conversations and questions about your life and experiences in your country.
