I'm Harry. I'm a 32 year old teacher who quit his job recently, has been in Colombia for five weeks and is about to head to Peru for the first time in his life. Iove travelling to different countries, exploring different cultures and immersing myself in nature.

Apart from English, I speak French pretty well. I thought I spoke good Italian, but I've forgotten it all while learning Spanish. After six weeks in Colombia, I've had deep conversations about love and politics, as well as being able to get by in day to day things with a little bit of misunderstanding and asking 'que pena?'. Learning languages is like a super-power and I am never going to stop learning them now. I teach English and I can help you if you are learning English.

I have had so much fun here in Colombia. I've not really had a moment of break. Places I've been too (in order) Bogota, Santa Marta, Tayrona, Palomino, the Guajira, la Cuidad Perdida, Minca, Cartagena, Cali (for the Feria), Popayan, Mocoa, Pasto (for La Carnaval de Negros y Blancos), Salento, Armenia, Manizales and now Medellin (if I ever get there - I've actually been stuck in a bus behind an accident for an hour now while writing this). I've got some pretty crazy stories to tell and am really grateful to all of the people I've met along the way. Over Christmas, couchsurfing has been a bit hard and I've not stayed with anyone anywhere outside of Bogota and that was on a different website. But locals have still taken me in and made me feel welcome when I've been travelling alone in lots of places and my Spanish has been improving all the time because of it.

I am a respectful and kind guest. I go out of my way to stick to your rules or just make you feel more comfortable around me. I don't like selling myself so, let me also say that I'm not very organised by nature. I struggle with this, but I always do everything I can to respect other people's space and their time so that there is no stress or friction! I'm fun, friendly and always try to make people smile. That's sort of a philosophy of mine. So hope to hear fro you soon!

Me he divertido mucho aquí en Colombia. Realmente no he tenido un momento de descanso. Tengo algunas historias bastante locas que contar y estoy muy agradecida con todas las personas que he conocido en el camino. Durante la Navidad, hacer couchsurfing ha sido un poco difícil y no me he quedado con nadie en ningún lugar fuera de Bogotá y eso fue en un sitio web diferente. Pero los lugareños me han acogido y me han hecho sentir bienvenida cuando he viajado sola en muchos lugares y mi español ha estado mejorando todo el tiempo gracias a eso.

Soy una invitada respetuosa y amable. Hago todo lo posible para cumplir tus reglas o simplemente hacer que te sientas más cómoda conmigo. No me gusta venderme, así que también quiero decir que no soy muy organizada por naturaleza. Me cuesta, pero siempre hago todo lo que puedo para respetar el espacio y el tiempo de los demás, ¡para que no haya estrés ni fricciones! Why I’m on Couchsurfing

English:
I used couchsurfing when I was younger and met so many amazing hosts (as well as hosting people who became lifelong friends). I met people on couchsurfing who ultimately changed my life and I'm hoping it'll still do this for me, ten years later (roughly).

When I travel, I don't want to just find a nice hotel. I'd rather be less comfortable, but meet new, interesting people and have an idea of the best things to do in the area straight from them.

It used to be about money (I never had any), now it's more about the experience and sharing it with people who are interesting (and people who do couchsurfing normally are).

Spanish:

Utilicé el Couchsurfing cuando era más joven y conocí a muchos anfitriones increíbles (además de alojar a personas que se convirtieron en amigos para toda la vida). Conocí gente en Couchsurfing que finalmente cambió mi vida y espero que todavía lo haga por mí, diez años después (aproximadamente).

Cuando viajo, no quiero simplemente encontrar un buen hotel. Preferiría estar menos cómodo, pero conocer gente nueva e interesante y tener una idea de las mejores cosas para hacer en la zona directamente de ellos.

Solía ​​ser una cuestión de dinero (nunca tuve), ahora se trata más de la experiencia y de compartirla con gente interesante (y la gente que normalmente hace Couchsurfing lo es).

English:

I'm active: I love running, climbing, swimming, hiking and playing a few different sports. This summer, I did the West Highland Way, spending seven days walking 100 miles in Scotland. I'm keen to travel and experience lots of different wonderful environments in Colombia and would love to find out more from you about the best activities to do!

I'm creative: I like to write and play music. I sing, play guitar, piano and a bit of everything else. I like to write poetry and prose just to process everyday life. I like dancing and am keen to find new ways to express myself.

I'm daring: I like to put myself out there and do things that others might not. I love to try new things and am open to all suggestions.

Este verano hice el West Highland Way y pasé siete días caminando 100 millas en Escocia. ¡Tengo muchas ganas de viajar y experimentar muchos entornos maravillosos diferentes en Colombia y me encantaría saber más sobre las mejores actividades para hacer!

Soy creativo: me gusta escribir y tocar música. Canto, toco la guitarra, el piano y un poco de todo lo demás. Me gusta escribir poesía y prosa sólo para procesar la vida cotidiana. Me gusta bailar y tengo muchas ganas de encontrar nuevas formas de expresarme.

Soy atrevida: me gusta exponerme y hacer cosas que otros quizás no harían. Me encanta probar cosas nuevas y estoy abierto a todas las sugerencias.

Books - I read a lot. The book I read most recently is a classic travelling book: Zen and The Art of Motorcycle Maintenence. Think philosophy + travelling + psychologically intense book...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This summer I hiked and camped for seven days in Scotland through the Highlands. It was beautiful, challenging and it rained a lot!

I teach English I could give you a little lesson if you really want. Also my degree is in literature so if you want I we could have a little discussion about a book we've both read.

Also could teach you a song on guitar or piano if you have these instruments available.. or give you a rendition of a song, a cover or an original..
