About Me

Hello there! You can call me Zoe if my Japanese name were difficult to pronounciate :) I was living in England before and studying Sports and Exercise Performance but I came back to Japan to study business to be an entrepreneur! I hope to relocate myself to California after graduation and work for fitness tech startups :)

I tried so many things so far. I tried to start a small English-teaching company when I was a freshman at university but it didn't go well. After that, I joined a fitness magazine company and I created gym searching website&media for expats and tourists in Tokyo. Because information on tripadviser was limited and also almost all the gym websites were in Japanese! After I worked for a company for one and a half year, I became a freelancer and I did a blogger for a personal training gym, translated one of the biggest gym company's website and taught English to 4 people privately. Now I'm trying to do a new thing and I hope this trip will bring me new ideas!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The reason why I do Couchsurfing is to know the locals' daily lives. For example, I wanted to live in Sweden before and stayed with one couch surfer about three years ago. However, my host told me that Swedish people can be drunk and depressed during winter. I realized I can't resist the short daylight.

I kind of don't see the point staying at a hotel when I travel by myself. I'm a friendly and open-minded person so I wanna interact with others. And I think Couchsurfing can be a great way to do that!

Interests

Recently I'm trying to make tasty (chewy) bagels! I had bagels for the first time in Brick Lane in London and I remembered how good it was! I used to go to bed around 2 am and wake up very late in the morning but I wanted to shift myself to a morning person. I searched online and some articles were saying "Prepare your favourite breakfast". Since then, I started eating bagels but I found out bagels are pricy in Japan. That's why I started making ones by myself!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love chef/cooking related movies like No Reservation and Chef!

I like to read self-improvement books or business related books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lost 28lbs just from walking 10,000 steps a day and eat only when I'm hungry. I learned losing weight doesn't fix everything.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm amazing at baking bagels! I started baking bagels because bagels are a bit pricy in Japan, but I found out the recipes are quite simple and not time-consuming at all!

What I Can Share with Hosts

We can make bagels together or we can cook Japanese food! If you like to try calligraphy, I can show you or teach you as well!

Maybe we can think about a new business idea as well??

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, China, England, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, United States, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
