Overview
About Me
Hi, I’m Hashim Shabbir from Lahore, Pakistan. I have always been deeply curious about how things work, which naturally led me toward engineering and science. As a child, I loved building and solving Lego sets—something that helped shape my problem-solving mindset and creativity from an early age.
Today, I work in Lahore in a research and development role with a US-based company, where I get to apply my technical knowledge to real-world challenges. I enjoy exploring innovative ideas, improving systems, and continuously learning within the engineering field.
Beyond my professional life, I’m passionate about travel, adventure, and the outdoors. I’ve explored extensively across Pakistan, especially in the northern regions, which I find incredibly inspiring. One of my most memorable experiences was trekking to the Nanga Parbat Base Camp—an adventure that truly deepened my love for hiking and nature. Over the years, I’ve been on numerous hikes, each offering new perspectives, challenges, and stories.
Through Couchsurfing, I look forward to meeting like-minded people, sharing experiences, and learning about different cultures. Whether it’s exchanging travel stories, discussing engineering ideas, or exploring a new place together, I’m always open to meaningful connections and new adventures.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I’m currently planning a solo trip to Turkey, and one of my main goals is to truly experience the local culture beyond just the typical tourist perspective. That’s why I’m on Couchsurfing—to connect with locals and fellow travelers, share stories, and gain authentic insights into everyday life. I believe traveling is not just about visiting places, but about the people you meet along the way, and Couchsurfing gives me the opportunity to make those meaningful connections.
Interests
I’m deeply passionate about engineering and enjoy exploring how things work, solving problems, and learning new concepts. Alongside that, I have a strong love for hiking and adventure—being out in nature, especially in the mountains, is something that truly energizes me.
I also really enjoy meeting new people, exchanging ideas, and learning about different cultures and perspectives. For me, meaningful conversations, shared experiences, and exploring new places with others make every journey more memorable.
In my free time, I like playing and following chess, Formula 1, and cricket. I also enjoy table tennis—it’s one of my favorite ways to stay active and have fun.
