ABOUT ME

Hi there, welcome to my profile. Please leave your shoes at the door. I'm another Australian in a cast of millions who made the decision to jump ship from my hometown of Brisbane to Canada in the end of 2012. I'm a fun-loving dude who doesn't take life too seriously. I enjoy making fun of everything, including myself. I currently base out of Vancouver, BC, though due to my nomadic work/travel style, I'm only there three months out of the year at most.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to not take life too seriously and appreciate both the good and the bad. Treating others the way you wish to be treated yourself works out for everyone! I believe that the universe will always provide, assuming you're open to receiving it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I used to live in a house that goes by the name of the Batcave. It was a culturally diverse house, sporting individuals from all across the world. We hosted couchsurfers non-stop for the house's entire existence; in that time we had dozens of incredible, interesting people enter our lives. Most continue with their journey, some stick around in Van and become part of our community, all left an positive impact on the house.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've met too many great people to count through hosting at the Batcave and have a plethora of lovely memories of these people as a result, not to mention a tonne of stories.
I've also been a couchsurfer several times when myself and two friends drove 9000km around Europe in a month and a half. Our surfing experience was nothing but positive; we were brought to hidden gems, helped in times of need, but mostly just had a blast with everyone we stayed with. It also helped as a host to see the other side of couchsurfing which I'm sure to do more of into the future.

Interests

I'm a big fan of the outdoors, living out of a tent while working in the forests of northern BC for three months of the year. I love skiing, hiking, running, camping, longboarding, surfing, dancing and will have a crack at just about anything. I'm also a big fan of meeting new people, learning about what they've picked up along the way and shooting the proverbial dung with them. I'm a vegetarian and try to eat healthy wholesome food and enjoy cooking. I love seeing live music and attending festivals. As of recently, I've discovered a passion for scuba diving and have recently become a divemaster. I hope to become an instructor soon!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all good music, across most genres sans metal/punk. I'm particularly partial to electronic producers; guys like James Blake, Flying Lotus and Nicolas Jaar are among my favourites. I absolutely love to dance to electronic music. I'm not too big on movies but I've been ingesting books since I was a child.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Snorkeling with a 14m Whale Shark & 3 reef sharks off the coast of Utila, Honduras. It was a beautiful experience! Also Burning Man. Also road-tripping around Europe. Too many things.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to brew beer yourself (though it is not a short process). I keep quite up to date on world events and love to discuss the big issues. I also contain a lot of stupid trivia that will occasionally jump out during conversation. If you're interested in scuba diving, I can tell you all about it! I'm always open to learning new things, share!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Laughter, stories and conversations across a broad range of topics. I'm definitely not a high maintenance surfer and am quite good at amusing myself should you be busy. I also have a habit of sneakily cleaning things and leaving it for you to discover later.

Countries I’ve Visited
