About Me

I’m Hazhir, a curious traveler, peacebuilder, and coffee enthusiast from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. I work at the Office of the President focusing on politics, peacebuilding, and development — but outside of work, I’m always looking for ways to connect with people, exchange ideas, and share cultures.

I’ve had the privilege to work on humanitarian projects, organize youth dialogues, and even meet His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 2022, where I gave a speech on youth and peace!

I love learning about new places, trying local food, and having deep conversations about life, history, and world affairs. I also co-founded an environmental project called Recycle Me App because I believe small actions can make a big difference.

I’m open-minded, respectful, and always happy to share stories about Kurdistan — and to listen to yours.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m on Couchsurfing to meet interesting people from all over the world, share stories, and learn about different cultures. I love exchanging ideas, connecting with open-minded travelers, and discovering new perspectives. For me, travel is not just about places — it’s about the people you meet along the way.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
I enjoy a mix of everything — from Kurdish folk music and classical pieces to international artists. I love music that tells a story and connects people across cultures. 🎶

Movies:
Big fan of thought-provoking documentaries, historical dramas, and inspiring true stories. I also enjoy a good political thriller or anything that explores human resilience.

Books:
I read a lot of books on politics, history, and peacebuilding, but I also love biographies of great leaders and thinkers. A few favorites: Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl, The Art of Happiness by the Dalai Lama, and Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2022, I met His Holiness the Dalai Lama during the Generation Change Exchange and even had the honor of giving a speech on youth and peace.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach:
I can teach you about the history, politics, and culture of Kurdistan and Iraq. I also love sharing insights on peacebuilding, youth activism, and sustainability.

Learn:
I want to learn about your culture, language, and local traditions. I enjoy hearing personal stories and learning new perspectives on life.

Share:
I can share my travel stories, humanitarian experiences, and a few lessons I’ve learned from working in post-conflict regions — and of course, I’m happy to share a good conversation over coffee or tea
