About Me
Hey there! I'm a wanderlusted human looking for local experiences wherever I go. Originally from Illinois, I followed a childhood dream and moved out west to Albuquerque, New Mexico for school. This is still one of the best decisions I have made in my life since I love love exploring, the desert, rock climbing, food, music, history, and meeting people with differing interests from mine!
I recently started working as a seasonal wildland firefighter with the Forest Service and so far haven't looked back. Getting paid to work in remote areas, sleep under the stars, play with fire, and interact with some of the most fascinating people in the U.S. sums up most of the things I try to do in my life ;)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am new to CS as of February 2019 and am looking forward to meeting people across the globe. Having lived with host families in Europe, I believe that hosting services such as this one allow for the best experiences while traveling :)
Music, Movies, and Books
Grew up a bit of a metal head, currently vibing on Jack White, and I will always have a soft spot for a select group of pop songs. Also everything in between.
I have not seen many movies, but I do enjoy watching them, so I'm open to suggestions to add to my "Need to Watch" list.
Books, books books. Bel Canto by Ann Patchett is a work of art. Check it out. LOTR, always a classic. Muir is great. Recently, I've been loving non-fiction books about psych and the brain.
I'm usually listening to podcasts throughout the day, especially on long car rides.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One time I was climbing a knife edge (called the Knife Edge) in Albuquerque and conquered a section of highly exposed rock. One tear was shed.
Teach, Learn, Share
A life goal of mine is to learn at least one more language fluently, ideally Arabic, realistically Spanish (due to my travel tendencies). Always willing to learn more outdoorsy skills and share the ones I have learned.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Stories, recommendations for places to go in New Mexico, glorious non-perishable New Mexico foods, and gratitude for hosting!
Countries I’ve Visited
Denmark, Germany, Italy, Mexico
