About Me

We are an energetic and adventurous couple traveling the world together for 7 years now. We taught English in Taiwan for some time, moved home right before the pandemic, and have been trying to travel as much as we can through these trying times.

We are very much our own people - definitely not a couple that will come to your house and make it awkward for you! We have different interests and many things that one of us will gladly talk about with a host while the other goes off and does something else. We love to learn about local life, as we’re always on the hunt for somewhere to settle in this world and aren’t too interested in tourist hot spots.

Heather is a passionate hiker, rock climber, yogi, and artist. She will gladly cook for the host and is almost always down for adventure! Travel is Heathers #1 hobby - she makes itineraries and plays map games for fun.

Jamey loves video games, podcasts, and politics. He’ll talk for hours about world politics and video games! He also loves music and TV. will gladly get people into new artists and shows.

We have never hosted, sadly, because in our apartments these last few years have been quite small! Also, we live in suburban New Jersey, no one wants to stay here 😂 We look forward to hosting one day when we find our foreverish home.

We both love exploring new places, getting outside, and meeting people from all over the world. We’ll gladly be as friendly or as quiet as possible as surfers.

I promise we’re the good kind of Americans, we never voted for Trump, and we truly want more European standards of living to one day improve the lives of American citizens. When I say we talk politics, it’s the kind that hopes for a better future for all!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We’d both like to meet people while traveling (on a budget) and live like the locals do! We moved to Taiwan to get to know the country and we’d like to keep that idea going everywhere we travel.

Some tourist places interest us, momentarily, but mostly we want to experience the lives that are lived in a place foreign to us. We want the rea life culture, the experiences had by those living where we are simply visiting.

We have similar tastes in music (both don’t like country - sorry). We like 1975, Dance Gavin Dance, Vampire Weekend, Hippocampus, Chvurches, Caroline Polachek.

Video games loves include Bloodborne, Legend of Zelda BOTW & TOTK, the Witcher, Elden Ring, Resident Evil, Olli Olli World

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Heather hiked up a volcano to do yoga with water buffalo at the top

Jamey moved across the world to live in a country he had never been to (for love)

We both climbed the most outrageously dangerous mountain in Taiwan - just chains and cliffs the whole way around.

Teach, Learn, Share

Both of us are very open minded and love getting into ideological conversations. We both teach English for those interested in learning.

Heather is a rock climbing instructor and is learning Spanish and Chinese. She will gladly cook, do yoga, teach rock climbing, and surfing with a host.

Jamey’s very knowledgable about global politics, video games, and music. He’ll stay up all night talking about these things.

Both of us gladly keep a neat and tidy home! We believe you should always leave a place better than you found it!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Positive vibes, interesting conversations, rock climbing knowledge, beer knowledge, English, Spanish, Chinese, ideological conversation, political discussions, video games, music, general pleasant company :)
