Overview
About Me
My husband and I are friendly, fun loving, open-minded, polite, easy-going people who appreciate the simple things. We live for a good adventure and learning through experiences, meeting new interesting people and places. We have a passion for music, nature, food, and anything to do with travel.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet new people, have great times, spread light and exchange hospitality. Heather first joined couch surfing after randomly meeting a host at a train station in Australia. She immediately fell in love with the opportunity to learn from people in such a personal way. David is eager to join in this adventure . Our world is constantly growing and changing thanks to the amazing people we meet along our journey. We have been so fortunate to be on the receiving end of hospitality and are very excited to give back and show off the city that we love now that we have the space to do so :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In the middle of the salt flats in Bolivia there is a beautiful proud display of flags from hundreds of countries around the world. For some reason, Canada was not represented. David has been travelling with the same Canadian flag for years and luckily we had it with us that day. It was a really special moment for us to be able to hoist our flag and leave it there for other Canadians to stand proudly beside.
It seems silly, but it really hit home for us how much we love our home country and how we want to represent our people and our homeland to the best of our abilities.
Teach, Learn, Share
We were on Chiloa island with a rented car to see the Humboldt and Mejellinic penguins off the coast of Chile. Our GPS took us on a remote farming road and we got completely stuck an hour away from any home and 5 hours from civilization. Being people who are usually prepared for any situation, we were so humbled to be completely reliant on the kindness of strangers. Long story short, farmers sacrificed their entire day to pull our car out of a ditch, insisted on feeding us homemade cheese and bread, and help us safely on our way (all without sharing a common language). There is so much more to this story, but we both left the experience wanting nothing more than to be able to pass along the kindness and generosity that we were shown that day.
