About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see the world!

ABOUT ME

We met when we were young and working a for a summer job with a Canadian construction company in 2005. We began dating several years later and traveled to places such as the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Cuba. When Curtis graduated from University in 2011, we went on a 3 month back packing trip across Europe where we saw 13 countries and ultimately fell in love with long term travel. One year ago, we got married on the beaches of Mexico surrounded by friends and family, and we are now taking a gap year to pursue our dreams of the traveling the world!

PHILOSOPHY

Life is short. Never take a single moment for granted. We're always inspired by the words of Mark Twain: "Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did".

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are fresh surfers - but we're always open for amazing, fun-loving people to enter our lives.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have stayed with locals in Rome, Berlin, and Paris and absolutely cherished the authentic experience and the new friends. We have yet to try couch surfing specifically, however we have many friends with plenty of couch surfing experience and have been told good stories. This is the perfect time to try!

Interests

Traveling, reading, writing, photography, music (Curtis loves playing guitar and piano!), trying new and exciting foods, and spending time with our two nieces!

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Anything starring Leonardo DiCaprio, or directed by Quinton Terantino. Other favorites include Mel Gibson, James Cameron, and Peter Jackson.
Books: Alex Garland (The Beach, especially), Stephen King, and Jodi Picoult. We both love Harry Potter. Curtis loves autobiographies and anything related to history, and we both really love the Time Traveler's Wife, by Audrey Niffenegger
Music: We enjoy all types of music, and will listen to anything depending on our mood.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing we have ever done would definitely be our 3 month European backpacking trip in 2011. Moving out of our house, we boarded a plane across the Atlantic to experience the most amazing things, including climbing the Eiffel Tower, exploring the Colosseum, beholding Michelangelo's David, cruising the canal's of Venice, para-sailing over the rolling hills of Austria, throwing snowballs on a Swiss mountain, relaxing on Greece's most beautiful island (where Curtis proposed), and much more! The entire trip fueled our passion for travel.

The future, however, promises to be our greatest endeavor yet. Leaving our jobs, house, and possessions behind in Canada, we will be traveling for the next year to complete an entire "round the world" adventure!

Teach, Learn, Share

We love reading and traveling, and are always open and willing to exchange good books or travel tips. Curtis loves history and likes to read, research, and share in order to make travel so much more rich and meaningful. Curtis has played guitar and piano for over 14 years and loves to play and share his music with anyone who will listen. Heather is a trained artist, and loves to try and share new foods. We both want to learn a new language, and have been trying to brush up our skills in Spanish.
