About Me

I'm a graphic designer working freelance while I roam around between home (in Canada) and seeing new places. I sometimes pick up seasonal work as a server in Canada but otherwise work on my laptop wherever I can get a wifi signal and I love planning never-ending travel! Love being handy, creative, adventurous, comfortable, and ambitious.

I take my time to find my voice within conversations with new people but love discussing honest subjects and finding out people's stories with no judgement from my end or expectations from theirs.

I love hiking, biking, and walking while travelling - and I love to camp. I also love city stays and heading out for a coffee on the corner and people watching.. Paris was perfect for that. I've recently developed flight anxiety after years of travel so I'm planning more road trips and general ground travel from here on out, starting with something that's been a dream of mine on the back burner for so long - a classic cross country USA road trip!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Same as everyone else - to get a peek into the lives of the locals in each place I visit, possibly make some new friends, and soak up anything I can learn from the host and location! I hope to one day be able to host others myself, I just have not been in a position where I've had my own space to do so since I'm always on the road or staying with family.

Interests

My main interest is life itself and how we go about living it. I like to live with intent but easily get lost in the flow of society, I like to be active but only when my environment motivates me, and I like to travel and work remotely as I go so I can see the world and all the different types of people in it - though some days I'm a crazy introvert and want nothing but to not see another soul. I'm a little all over the place and I like it that way.

Music, Movies, and Books

As far as reading goes, I am a massive Stephen King fan. I love anything thriller, horror, and love reading classics that touch on society and history. Am also really into books on politics and the history of humans and our universe.

I love horror, comedies, action, and musically driven movies. Too many favourites to name, but my go-to movie when I'm sick is Almost Famous, and when I need to let out the sadness it's Armageddon, if that tells you anything.

I'm all over the place with music, mostly though I love classic oldies and alternative beats... Anything I can bust a move to or get the feels from. Elton John, The Smiths, ABBA, The Ramones, The Who, Arcade Fire, July Talk, Cage the Elephant - just too many to name.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Continued to have a desire to do things out of the ordinary and travel solo regularly after all these years. It's easy to make plans and go to new places when you have someone by your side helping with costs and general morale and planning - but to time and time again choose to take yourself out of the comfort of your home and go to a new country knowing it's you alone is something I've come to learn not everyone has the mentality to do. I'm happy I don't typically see it as a hardship when I'm booking new adventures - I just see experiences I want am not willing to wait for.

Teach, Learn, Share

We all learn different things in life. If you look at or speak to someone and think they have nothing to teach you, you're wrong. Everyone of us has gone through different paths in life and can give unique answers or perspectives, and I look forward to continuing to learn new things from any hosts I stay with or people I meet, as I hope they in return find some things I have to say worthwhile. More than anything if I was able to choose a sentiment or idea to pass along to others and have them absorb it, it would be to always pursue your dreams no matter how far fetched they seem.

What I Can Share with Hosts
